Cactus & Pine GCSA among the allied associations who will call the golf house home
The Arizona Alliance for Golf, Arizona State University, Arizona Golf Community Foundation and the City of Phoenix have partnered to construct the Arizona Golf House at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz. The state-of-the-art golf house will serve as the hub of golf in the state of Arizona providing office space for the state’s numerous allied associations including the Cactus and Pine GCSA, AZ Golf (formerly the Arizona Golf Association), Junior Golf Association of Arizona, First Tee Phoenix, Club Managers Association of America Southwest Chapter and the Southwest PGA.
At over 14,000 square feet, the single story building will provide golf programming, youth mentorship and job training opportunities (Evans Scholars, Desert Mashies, National Golf Player Development Foundation, etc.), continuing education opportunities, promote golf’s recreational and economic benefit, assist with turfgrass/water research and expand the impact and reach of the game to the state’s 7.5 million residents. The building, located adjacent to the Papago clubhouse, provides private and shared office space, conference rooms, patio space, a courtyard and lounge/break area with a fully equipped kitchen that will allow the facility to cater special events.
The $11 million facility broke ground in 2024 and was designed by Douglas Fredrikson Architects with Wespac Construction serving as the contractor.
Papago Golf Club, located in Papago Park, is just minutes from Phoenix International Airport and has long served as a favorite course for locals and visitors alike. Home to the Arizona State University Men’s and Women’s golf team, the Billy Bell-designed course (1963) can play to 7,380 yards and has undergone numerous improvements and renovations under the management of Troon.
Congratulations to all involved on this project and particularly The Arizona Alliance for Golf who had the foresight to see this project completed.
