As we approach the end of 2025, I find myself reflecting on a transformative year filled with new beginnings and rewarding experiences. After 30 years in the industry as a golf course superintendent and a dedicated GCSAA member, I embarked on an exciting new journey in July as the Southeast field staff representative for the GCSAA. This transition has been incredibly fulfilling and has allowed me to leverage my extensive experience to support and advocate for superintendents throughout the region.

Leaving my role as a golf course superintendent after three decades was not an easy decision, but the opportunity to step into this representative position felt like a natural progression. It has been a rewarding experience to move from managing a course to helping fellow professionals navigate the challenges and opportunities they face daily. I am grateful for the chance to share my insights while learning from others along the way.

The second half of 2025 was particularly enriching as I traveled across various states, including Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana and my own beautiful Florida panhandle. Each trip enabled me to connect with dedicated professionals in the golf course management community, share insights, and learn from one another. These experiences have reinforced my commitment to supporting superintendents and advocating for the essential work they do.

Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be an extraordinary year as we celebrate the centennial of GCSAA. I am excited about the initiatives planned to honor this significant milestone, and I look forward to continuing to make a positive impact within our community.
