Lawrence, Kan. (Oct. 14, 2025) – The Florida Golf Course Superintendents Association (EGCSA) has generously donated $12,903.20 to the GCSAA Foundation, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), with $10,000 of it dedicated to the new Col. John Morley Centennial Campaign and the rest in recognition of GCSAA CEO Rhett’s Evans successful summit of Mount Everest, which is 29,032 feet high.GCSAA will turn 100 on Sept. 13, 2026, and it has embarked on a Centennial fundraising campaign to establish a new endowment honoring GCSAA’s founder, Col. John Morley, with a goal of raising $1 million to fund new and innovative initiatives for the next 100 years.
The Florida GCSA is supporting the Centennial Campaign at the Chapter Legacy Leader Level, which recognizes donations of $5,000 or more. The GCSAA-affiliated chapter continues its membership in the Foundation’s Platinum Tee Club, which recognizes organizations that donate $5,000 or more annually to the GCSAA Foundation. It is also recognized at the President’s Club level in the Foundation’s Cumulative Giving Program for donors that have contributed between $100,000 and $249,999 since 1987.
“We thank the Florida GCSA for their commitment to helping shape the next century of the industry and the game with this gift to the Centennial Campaign,” said GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans. “I am humbled that they also chose to recognize my summiting of Everest.”
Florida GCSA is one of the 94 GCSAA-affiliated chapters in North America. It was founded in 1970 to promote sustainable turf management and unify the golf course superintendents in the state.
“We proudly support GCSAA’s Centennial Campaign at the same time we honor Rhett Evans’ remarkable achievement,” Florida GCSA President Ryan Swilly, CGCS, said. “Just as Rhett’s journey gave him a view from the top of the world, a $1-million endowment will open a world of possibilities for GCSAA and the golf course superintendent profession.”
