Government Affairs offerings at the 2021 Golf Industry Show

Jan 26, 2021

The GCSAA government affairs team is set to host three virtual sessions and one virtual reception you won’t want to miss at the 2021 Golf Industry Show. All you have to do is remember: three days, three sessions, at 3:10 p.m. EST. How easy is that?

Be sure to stop by our booth in the Virtual Member Services area for answers to your advocacy questions. The first 150 people to visit the government affairs booth in the Virtual Member Services area and fill out our advocacy survey will receive a GCSAA government affairs journal.

GCSAA GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS: THE STATE OF POLICY AND POLITICS IN 2021
On Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 3:10 p.m. EST, attend our first session, The State of Policy and Politics in 2021, during which the GCSAA Government Affairs team will preview legislative and regulatory proposals facing superintendents in the year ahead. You’ll also hear from the California Alliance for Golf who was recently named the winner of the 2021 Excellence in Government Affairs Award. Finally, you won’t want to miss this year’s special guest speaker who will inspire you to advocate for your profession at the local, state and federal levels of government.

This session is open to all registered attendees at the virtual GIS.

AMBASSADOR ACADEMY 1
On Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 3:10 p.m. EST, Ambassador Academy is back. Last year, Grassroots Ambassadors packed the room to hear former Speaker of the House John Boehner discuss his time in politics, and how ambassadors can work with congressional offices to support policy solutions for the golf industry. This year's academy, although virtual, plans to be just as compelling with another special guest who will inspire you to get engaged.

If you are registered to attend the GIS, as a Grassroots Ambassador, you have been pre-registered to attend this event, so please check your inbox for an e-mail from GoToWebinar which will get you into the virtual room. If you are not currently a Grassroots Ambassador but have interest in becoming one and attending Ambassador Academy, visit the Grassroots Ambassador page for details on joining the program or reach out to Michael Lee.

There are six other education sessions taking place at the same time as Ambassador Academy 1. With your all access pass to the virtual GIS, you have 30 days to watch those recorded sessions. However, Ambassador Academy 1 will be live and unrecorded. We hope you can join us.

AMBASSADOR ACADEMY 2
Finally, on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 3:10 EST, we encourage Grassroots Ambassadors who are new to the program and all other ambassadors looking to up their advocacy game to attend Ambassador Academy 2. During this one-hour session, you’ll hear from a panel of the 2020 Grassroots Ambassador Leadership Award winners who have excelled in working with their congressional office through establishing a contact and building rapport. You'll leave inspired and motivated to do the same. If you are not currently a Grassroots Ambassador but have interest in becoming one and attending Ambassador Academy 2, visit the Grassroots Ambassador page for details on joining the program or reach out to Michael Lee, manager, government affairs.

As with the first academy, there are six other education sessions taking place at the same time. With your all access pass to the virtual GIS, you have 30 days to watch those recorded sessions. However, Ambassador Academy 2 will be live and unrecorded. We hope you can join us.

EIFG DONOR and GRASSROOTS AMBASSADOR APPRECIATION RECEPTION
Also, if you are a currently serving ambassador, you have the opportunity to attend the annual EIFG Donor and Grassroots Ambassador Appreciation Reception at GIS. While the format may be a bit different this year, this is a great opportunity to virtually mix and mingle with industry leaders, hear from a few special guests including Rhett Evans, GCSAA CEO, and John Fulling, CGCS, and enjoy a relaxing social hour, all from the comfort of your own home or office. The program will include recognition of the Excellence in Government Affairs and Environmental Leaders in Golf award winners. Plus, don't miss a special guest.

Please register to attend the reception using this link:

If you have any questions regarding these events, please reach out to Michael Lee, manager, government affairs, directly at mlee@gcsaa.org.
