Do you send play off of the front and back first thing in the morning at your clubs and if so how do you work your maintenance around it? I have a crew of six so sending teams off both nines at the same time is not an option.

We don't have regular play scheduled off the front and back where I'm at currently, the course is laid out pretty well for us to work around the few golfers who they do send off the back nine. We can only usually request they send no one off the back nine if we are doing something on occasion, but normal days they will send people out if they can.

When I was in New Jersey, we did have for the first hour play go off of # 10 tee for nine hole play only. During the week we would send out mowers (greens and fairways if they were scheduled) off both nines to stay in front of play. On weekends with our one person mowing greens and the other changing cups, we would start on # 1 and just move around the course in order, by the time we made the turn to # 10 we were in the gap between the front nine golfers and back nine golfers. Only occasionally when we had a beginner did the first group catch the back nine golfers or would hold us up, but the rangers usually would have that issue fixed before we caught them.

If we didn't work that way, we were so busy guys would be watching golf instead of mowing.

We send player off both tees every morning at 7:30. I generally have enough equipment and people to take care of two nines at the same time, but when we find ourselves short on anything, I mow / setup the first 4 holes on the front, then I go to the back and mow/ setup 6 holes before heading back to the front for 5 holes, then to back for the renmianing 3 holes. It's a scramble, but it works. The only reason that I start with 4 is that hole is in relatively close proximity to #10.

We send play off of #1 and #9 (because of course layout) for the first hour of the morning. We keep the "back 10" tee closed on Wednesdays which is when we do spraying or other maintenance tasks ahead of play. Normally staff works in front of the play off the first tee and then has a gap between those players and those on the "back 10" to work in. No guarantee that greens will be mowed etc. in front of you if you go off on the "back 10". We do our best to avoid play but with a small staff and play starting at first light (or earlier) we can't always avoid players.
