I've been getting more and more emails from GCSAA "on behalf of" some company selling me their goods and it got me thinking about how my local chapter has worked so hard on keeping talks and seminars "non-commercial" so that we can offer non-biased education and allow our members to qualify for CEU's. If the local chapters are held to a non-commercial standard then why has GCSAA all of the sudden sold out to these companies and is now filling my inbox with junk email? Are we soon going to allow salesmen to give "educational" talks locally and peddle their products while we earn CEU's?? Just doesn't seem to go along with what we've done for years...

    I'm confused.

    Dear Confused,

I cannot afford the benefits of a GCSAA membership. I need them to be able to sell advertisements to keep the price down. When you see stuff show up on your email just delete it.

    Sincerely,
    Cheap Guy

There is a "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email. Allows you to unsubscribe from all marketing emails from GCSAA.

You can not unscubscribe to a piece of advertisement that has already been delivered by the USPS to your office. It is too late the junk mail has already arrived and money was spent to get it there on behalf of GCSAA.

This is part of the business. Go to the delegates meeting and hear the conversations that go on about raising dues. No one really wants their dues to go up and the association has to bring in revenue to keep operating. If they can generate some extra cash by mass emails and selling the information for who is coming to the show, go for it.

Now when we take out a $2,000,000 loan to improve the headquarters including landscaping, I scratch my head. Then again, maybe that should be another thread.
