Looking for some information as to what the standards are for golf courses designed by Jack Nicklaus as 'Nicklaus Signature Designs'. I have heard that there is annual/bi-annual regulations, standards, etc.

Just looking to expand my knowledge --- any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

I am at Bear's Best Atlanta a course with 18 holes replicated after 18 of his most famous designs and have not heard of that before.

Steve Batten might be the guy to talk to about this. He is a very pleasant guy to have lunch with anyway.

PS: If you look in the handwritten roots of the weeds in Beards' books you will see Steve's name.

I am at a J ack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course and he has never stepped foot on the property and I have not had to meet any standards or regulations as set by Nicklaus design group in the eleven years I have been the super.

I built that course, Paul. The only regulations they had were with the bunker edges and lips. Other than that, the lead designer never said a word about any kind of standards!

But yet people play the course all the time because of the designation and the ability to say "I played a Jack Nicklaus course" when in reality he had nothing to do with it.

Yet another contribution to the state of today's golf economy...

    Gentlemen,

Thank you for the replies....I had heard something with this recently, but had not heard anything with this previously. I figured it might be nothing, but just wanted to touch base to see if anyone had any insight.

Thanks to all and have a great holiday season!
