Depends on how short you're looking for. I went back to college when I was 35 to take the Rutger's two year program. 10 weeks each year, 40 hours per week, for 2 years.
It's their "Winter Course". Agronomy, irrigation, tree id, grass id, course design, etc, etc, etc. Total immersion for 800 hours in everything regarding golf. I sent my assistant for the next two years after I had finished. As it was winter, there were no leaves, so we had to id trees on campus from their bark, shape, and other characteristics. Coming from the southwest, I was looking some trees I had never seen before, but what a great learning experience.
I was the "old man" in the class. No problem. Our course was shut down for the winter and the club paid for everything. I know there are many other fine programs out there, but I would give Rutgers an 11 out of 10 in quality. Fantastic instructors, and I'm still close friends from almost everyone in my class. At that time, you had to really show them why you should be accepted into their program. Very few openings, and thousands of applicants.
Go to their website and check it out. Some of the finest superintendents I know, have made the decision to go back to college after they had worked in the field for many years. Seriously........at least "look" at Rutger's program.
