   Curious what other private clubs allow in terms of golfing benefits for staff. As superintendant and assistant here we are salaried employees, have a house account, can use the pool and dining facilities, etc. and can play any day. Hourly employees are allowed three days a week, not on Wed., Fri, Sat. or Sun.. Most of my hourly guys usually couldn't care less about golf. Over the years most have had other interests like hunting, fishing, DRINKING, drugs, etc. and besides my mechanic, most are general labor/equipment operator/whatever we need you to do positions. This year have finally hired a qualified experienced spray tech who is hourly. Great guy, former superintendent at a small public course which closed last year. Someone who could someday leave here for greener pastures at another course and would do well. He is a good golfer. Would like to see his work appreciated as much as mine and be rewarded by not feeling like he is sneaking on to the course. Is this reasonable?

   It should be reasonable. I bet the miscreants at the Pro Shop play for free. If he's not bumping members out of a tee time, what's the loss to the operation? It's only a gain really.

   Like you, me and my assistant have the ability to play whenever we would like. My foreman who has been here 19 years is granted the ability to play after 1pm when there is basically no one else out there. He is very respectiful and invested in the club.
   
   Regular hourly employees including the cart barn crew can play on Mondays we are closed for maintenance after 2pm. If they get wet, tough. I also take my entire crew out twice a year on a Monday after lunch to have a 9 hole scramble match. Its a great morale booster.
   
   Inside pro shop staff can play one day per week as long as they do not displace members.

   Of course that's reasonable!
   But so is hitting a ball in a bunker and understanding it is a hazard.
   Some places (clubs) don't deal in reason.
   I would just cover myself and explain this to the Green Chairman, or the GM.
   How do you displace members?? Gosh, there were several I would have "displaced" if only I knew how.

   That's displaced from the tee sheet... they'll lock you up and throw away the key for what you're thinkin' about... though I've had the same thoughts on occasion!
