Rain and lightning got into our 5th 9 hole round at our member/guest over the weekend with 7 holes still to play. Course was very playable but lightning kept them in for over 4 hours which would have not allowed us to finish the horse race. In the end, the committee decided to scrap the last round and declare the 10 flight winners for the horse race finals which were completed just before 8 p.m. No doubt right decision but a few unhappy folks. Anyone have a policy out there set up or have experienced this issue in the past? Thanks for your help. I think if there is a fairly clear policy regarding the event, some might still be unhappy but it would be presented ahead of time so everyone knows what will happen if rain out does occur or time gets shortened too much to complete in full.

    Thanks

We issued a green fee pass to our members' guest. Everyone thrilled and about 1/2 were redeemed.

    David,

How much of it did you have to cancel?

We do a Fri/Sat Member guest with a Sunday rain day if needed. Several years in a row with rainouts got the Tournament committee looking at options. This year worked out well!

We do a practice on Thursday so they have already committed 3 days to the event. Good idea for Sunday but would be difficult with 3 days already committed in our situation. We turned out better than others. One club got all rounds in but did not get shootout completed. Only a one hole chip off and the other got half the last round in with no shootout. Even though ours was only 4 total rounds instead of 5, we got the full shootout in but barely.

    Thanks for the information.

    What is the format played?

two person net best ball. Win or lose up to 3 holes(points) per match maximum. My thoughts are that if a round is not completed, you only count the rounds that are completed and then complete the horse race. That is what we did. I think it would be difficult if not impossible to ask people to come back the next morning to complete the process after they have already committed 3 days. Just an opinion, any other thoughts.

    Joe,
They only got a few holes in before skies opened and the greens were unplayable.

Should have mentioned that almost everyone stayed for the first class meal.
