49 percent believe income taxes have gone up
63 percent believe the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts
56 percent believe Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout
38 percent believe that most Republicans opposed TARP

If the stimulus helped with jobs then why is the unemployment rate still at least 9% and probably much higher when you count those that gave up looking. The under employment rate is still 18% or more. Health care will cost more by any form of measurement and has already gone up rapidly since it was introduced. The real economy isn't any better and has actually been stalled in its recovery due to current policies. Climate change has been happening forever since it is the nature of the climate. The stimulus extended tax cuts. Funny thing, talk radio and Fox News both have extremely educated and actively involved audiences. The average person on the street can't tell you the Vice Presidents name nor a Supreme Court Justice but is very aware of Dancing with the Stars, the Bachelor and the latest greatest movie star scandal!

Sandy, you haven't been to the Ozarks have you. They are regular listeners to talk radio and Fox news, yet I have to question their education. (A big part of this in my opinion is they haven't lived anywhere else so they really don't have good reference point about other parts of the country or world, just check out my congressman Billy Long). They are actively involved though.

Mel, I have only been to Lake of the Ozarks for a Scott's National Sales Meeting and obviously landed in a Missouri airport to go to several of the voting delegates meetings. I did see many guys dressed in bib overalls at the airport. My little exposure wouldn't be a fair analysis of the people from the Ozarks. I am sure uneducated fanatics do watch Fox and listen to Talk Radio but studies have shown in general, a higher education level and more involvement than the general public on a nationwide basis.

It seems that the website you linked to is just a wee bit tilted left. I would encourage you to find a neutral source of information from now on.

If you follow the links you can find the actual survey that was done by the Wall Street Journal.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released a report* in August that said the stimulus bill has "[l]owered the unemployment rate by between 0.7 percentage points and 1.8 percentage points" and "[i]ncreased the number of people employed by between 1.4 million and 3.3 million."

*Estimated Impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on Employment and Economic Output From
    April 2010 Through June 2010
    Released August 2010

Thanks for sharing, I agree with most of it. I get 75% Fox news and 25% all the rest at my location. I watch far less news than I would like and I have to read. Fox is so far right they will fall off the edge of the flat earth that I must assume they also believe in.
Everyone knows that we on the back of a giant turtle on a long journey to a better land.
    Come on Fox get real.

Fox News is not necessarily right wing but even I admit that the commentators are certainly of the conservative belief. I have no problem separating commentary and opinion from actual news. I think the actual news at the three major networks plus CNN tends to be given with a left slant that is far more left bias than Fox shows with pure news from the supposed right slant.

I find it hard to believe that any real recovery has been made by this administration. Last week on the evening news ( the lefty stuff from ABC, NBC, CBS) lead off on the continued failure of the housing market to rebound. I believe a number they threw out was 1 in 5 in Florida were underwater with their mortagage. 60 Minutes has a recent piece on the continued long term unemployed, those no longer counted as unemployed as their assistance has run out and they have ceased looking for work. Food stamp usage is at it's highest in our nations history. Even he admitted last week that his shovel ready stimulus program was more hype than fact. His speech tonight on bringing home troops from Afghansistan ( which I certainly do not disagree with) is definitely politically motivated with the next years election looming. He knows he has little chance of turing the economy around but drawing down the troops will bring him political favor.

60 % of Fox News listeners believe the 911 terrorists entered the States through Canada...and they continue to put that out there. We may well have our own terrorists, but we draw the line at teaching them how to fly.

Some of us may have to work until we're 70 but look on the bright side of that. For those that are close to that date now you'll draw the maximum social security and be able to make unlimted funds that will not affect youir SS draw. On the darkside of that......if you aren't close to that age, then you might get ZIP! Scott we can't all have cushy government jobs. Some of us have to work on the private side and actually contribute and save towards our own retirement.

Various articles in my paper today................Bernanke news sinks stocks.....fed chairman said Wednesday that "drags on the economy may be far worse than previously thought".................Poll: Economy affects Obama's support........."American's are growing gloomier about where the country is headed and how President Obama is leading it" "high gas prices, anemic hiring, financial turmoil abroad shakes the nations confidence" " 4 out of 5 people believe the economy is in poor shape" for the first time this year in the AP polling those that believe Obama should be re-elected has fallen below 50% "Obama has a 59% disapproval of his handling of the economy" "56% of those polled have a favorable impression of Obama himself but not of how he is performing" Home sales hit '11 low..........."home sales sank 3.8% last month bringing the housing market to the lowest point of the year" "home sales last year were the worst showing in 13 years"
The good news for the president is he had a higher favorable rating than the Congress not that that is a positive to hang your hat on.

All of this came from AP articles ........the poll was conducted June 16-20 with a 4.1 % margin or error......nary a thing came from Fox............amazing that they could perfom this without help from FoxNews

We are trying to solve a 3 trillion dollar problem with 8 billion. America is wealthy, but some of the wealthiest Americans are waging war on the middle class. They are doing a good job of getting out the false message that America is poor and weak. Many of you have swallowed the hook.

This line is b.s. I've worked both sides and my work ethic didn't change in the least. In fact, I find it more difficult to work for the government because the view de riguer is that all government employees are lazy, on the take, and incompetent. Every armchair "taxpayer" thinks they own you. But the ones spouting that trash couldn't keep up with me, or my staff, for an hour let alone a day.

Is the Washington Time right wing enough for you?

"Republicans have pushed for spending cuts to equal the amount the ceiling is raised — at least $2 trillion. GOP leaders also insist that any deal not include tax increases, a position Democrats and many economists say is unrealistic."

For Mr Conard, the comment about governement employees was not referenced to Scott as a golf course superintendent. It was directed at government employees in general. After 33 years in the industy I do not throw stones at other superintendents. Now if you want to defend the fat in both local, state and federal governments then have at it. I think we have all passed our local and state governments finest sometime in our lifetime filling a pot hole in the road. One dump truck, one pickup truck for the supervisor, 4 guys leaning on shovels and one actually using the shovel or rake. And we as taxpayers fund their retirment programs and many can retire with some combination of age and service much earlier than most of us. And I am very impressed that few if anyone can keep up with you for an hour let alone a day. Work ethic is instilled in someone long before that first government job..........you either have it or you don't. Glad that you also have it Ron.
