Sandy Clark, CGCS said: I meant barracks! Brain and fingers were not on the same frequency. If you heard the same speech back in the 90's it doesn't make it any less of a concern. You still have crazies trying to blow up another nation because of ancient hatred. The goal has never changed, it is just getting closer to reality!
Sandy,
With all due respect but is claiming the next catastrophe is here at every turn really any way live? Earth has always been on the verge of meltdown but some how or another our species keeps riding it out, even as we are the root cause of the problems. Eventually the dike may break but until then I'm not going to claim today is the day. Remember the imminent Ebola outbreak that was going to run rampant through the US because the administration was clueless? Me neither.
At any rate wasn't this the same line Bibi put forth regarding Sadam's ability to produce nuclear weapons prior to the U.S. invading and finding out in fact, Iraq did not have that capability? That action is bearing fruit now due to a destabilized Iraq, right? We need to be aware that even our best intentions in matters like this seem to produce results we never intended.
This is a thorny issue. Nobody wants Iran with a nuclear bomb and I think radical Islam has everyone's attention. But what's the solution? Is it in our national interest to destabilized Iran? Maybe a Shia counterbalance to the Sunni dominance in the region is actually something we need to consider. In the realm of international relations sometimes there are no good bedfellows to choose from. What then?
I don't know what is in the "deal" with Iran. Can anyone else post the details? Without knowing maybe it's a little too early to hit the panic button. As off the wall as the Ayatollahs in Iran can be do you really think they are going to risk annihilation by nuking Tel Aviv?
