   If you don't think Obama wasn't strictly playing politics by rejecting it yesterday, just go to rogerhedgecock.com and look at the illustration of all the pipelines that already cross the aquifer. The environmental risk isn't an issue. You have lengthy history with all those other pipelines crossing the aquifer without a single incident. We have 650,000 miles of pipelines currently operating in the U.S. I still say he did this clearly to lock up the environmental vote and then will throw them under the bus after the unions pay more for his re-election run. The pipeline will magically transform itself from an environmental risk into a great source of safe job creation. Politics currently trumps creating those jobs immediately due to election priorities and the fact that conservatives are in favor of it!

   Yup, kind of stupid. Let's keep shipping oil from the far side of the world from nations that hate us and keep drilling in deep water so we can have another BP disaster instead of building an additonal pipeline from Canada. Go figure.

   You all have heard my thoughts on this probably ad nasum, and my continuous waffling on the subject trying to see both sides, but I would just say, no worse then the politics of the republicans putting the pipeline in the tax extension bill to begin with. Lets start talking the truth and say it, both sides are politicking. Just my opinion.

   The Keystone pipeline purpose is to transport tar sand crude to U.S. refineries for EXPORT. If it's for U.S. domestic consumption why not just refine it in refineries in the midwest? TransCanada estimates 1 spill every 7 years. The job creation number are severely inflated. etc.....

   Republicans argue the real motivation is to avoid the political consequences of approving or rejecting the pipeline.
   
   That is the only fact I find in the articles.. When one the sites has STOP OIL SANDS at the top of the page that must be a truly fact based Im sure all the sites are a fine example of objective journalism. You cannot dispute Sandys info on miles of pipeline, but the articles are about as dependable as the next 10 day forecast.
   Next time any of you go down the interstate pay attention what the truckers are hauling. Next time you sit and wait for a train. Whats on that train??? My point is there is a lot of danger and risks taken everyday to operate and provide for and keep our nation operating. If environmentalists object,then get rid of your cars dont take the bus turn your electricity off. Virtually everything we consume, use or service we buy is connected to coal, oil, nuclear.    I tried to post articles that had cited sources, so if that tag at the top of one page deters you from seeking the facts then you already have made up your mind regardless of the facts. Quite sad actually and a one of the biggest problems that keeps our country and it's citizens from finding real answers to it's problems.
   
   I suggest that you actually take the time and search on your own for the truth. It can be a challenge to sort through the BS, but it can be done.....if you have the desire to be a independent thinker.

   Jon, I don't degree with some of your comments. We do have trucks up and down the interstates and highways carrying dangerous products and also on trains. The big difference could be the consequences of an accident. Sad as it might be, a 3,000 gallon spill on the side of a highway is a little different then a 20,000 gallons spill in someones aquifer.
   
   I still don't know why both sides can't debate the issue and see if common ground can be found for the betterment of all?
   
   Also I appreciate both Keith and Sandy for websites that we can visit and research to form our own opinions.

    Keith the moneymorning.com is the most informative article. The one that I have a big problem with is tarsands.org which is linked to oil change international, global exchange and Antonia Juhasz. San Francisco activists. If their message is so clear and concise then why so many labels. What I find about the articles is they are speculation and a lot of opinion along with Armageddon.
