    Professor;

    I remember Kent State. Very sad that those shootings occurred.

    My father graduated from Norwich and fought in the Korean War. He made it perfectly clear to my brother and I when we were kids that we would fight in the Army. We had uniforms and .22 cal training rifles. In May of 1970 I was 12 and my brother was 15. My father went from being gung-ho to being very disenchanted with the military. My brother joined the Army, which upset my Dad and Vietnam was over when I became of age.

    Professor;

    Norwich - A real good military school - I assume that is the college in Vermont. In May of 1970 I was 32. My 3 kid brothers joined the Marines in the late sixties and all were in Vietnam. Actually one was on the USS Forrestall, same ship McCain was on when it blew up. Another crazy war we had no business in.

    I have a very close relative who was at Kent when the shootings occurred. He witnessed much of the action but did not take part in the protests. He said it was a shame the guard reacted the way they did but he was not surprised that the guard reacted, albeit with deadly force.

    While on memory lane here in 1970 I returned from my second tour in Vietnam and turned 21, old enough to vote finally and drink legally in all the states.
