    The payroll tax cut that is all over the news is Social Security tax. Since the dems have been running around for the last twenty years saying the repubs want to rob you of your social security, why aren't we calling him out on it when he is actually doing it. This is not a tax that we should be touching. If you want to give someone an extra $40 month in their paychecks, just drop the ETR for all taxpayers and that would accomplish the same thing without robbing social security. Robbing from Social security means we are robbing from those individuals who have been paying into the system

    Sounds like Obama got the lock-box key from Al Gore.

    Gentlemen;

    The government has been robbing Social Security for years - both Republicans and Democrats.

    Something different now - Barney Frank is marrying his boyfriend according to the Boston Globe.

    We have another Kennedy running for Congress and the idiots of Taxachusetts are thrilled about another Kennedy. He is getting all the Press. I think he is the grandson of the late Robert Kennedy

    Just pointing out the hypocricy. When the repubs want to reform social security we are stealing from everyone, but when the dems actually are stealing from everyone they call it compansion

    According to the psychoacoustics of noise reduction, the ear functions similarly as a spectrum analyzer does, effectively dividing sounds into frequency bands, called "critical bands." In order to simultaneously mask a variety of possible noises occurring in different parts of the spectrum, it is necessary to keep signal levels high at all times relative to the noise level across the entire audio spectrum.

    Two elements of the dbx system are key to satisfying this constraint: wideband compansion and spectral compansion. The wideband compansion keeps overall signal levels high during transmission. The spectral compansion optimizes the spectrum that is transmitted. It acts like a sophisticated, signal-controlled treble control hinged around 1,000 Hz.

    Damn you, Lamb! You beat me to it. Now, if I could only find a definition for [u">soccial[/u">.

    Man you guys are brutal, too bad the spell checker doesn't work for our subject line. I know when I get all fired up and am typing, I'm just glad I have spell checker to help. Of course it doesn't help my grammar.

    I'm not brutal. Keith is. I challenge anyone to show a post where I have pointed out spelling errors.

    (That should keep the geeks busy for a few hours. Geeks: The people you pick on in high school and wind up working for as an adult.)

    Not sure what Mary Brown and social security have in common but in reading the article I thought how and hell was she allowed to file bankruptcy over $4500 in unpaid medical bills. You can pay most doctors off at $20 a month and they will never turn you over for collection. Then in reading the rest of the story she had another 50k in debt as well. Perhaps an example of someone not meant to be an entrepreneur........some yes, some no.

    But SS is the elephant in the room neither party will discuss and it needs to be. The problem like the deficit is only getting bigger by the day and will not disappear if we ignore it. The state of Louisiana is facing the same problem as the United States and sure our state is not alone. We have over $18 billion in UAL's (unfunded accrued liability) for state retirees and the problem is growing. Over 88,000 state government employees working plus the retirees. Eventually the workers will want to retire as well. You can raise taxes (the US govt & La govt) on the taxpayers......the easy out though raising taxes at the wrong time is not easy or you can change the way we do things. Raise the retirement age to draw retirement (La allows a combination of age + yrs of service), make retirement pay(SS) be based on need.....the Buffet's, Gates, Romney's.......need not apply. And conversely those at the bottom end of the scale, those that for whatever reason never choose to work a day in their life receive the bare minimum. Let those that actually worked for 40 years, were productive members of society actually reap a small portion of what we paid in.........or as someone else said in this thread or another...........give me all I paid in back, and see if I can make it on my own.
