One thing about a pipeline, they don't drive through town 5 times a day
13 confirmed dead, 50 people missing. The bodies can not be identified without the help of DNA supplied by relatives of the missing

Warren Buffet is heavily invested in trains that deliver oil southward. Could that be a reason for the pipeline delay? I have no idea. Thought I would throw it out to see what others might think!

I don't have a problem with a pipeline if it's not running through an aquafer that supplies drinking water to a huge region.

While it seems what happened with the train is probably the worst, I think there is a small town in Arkansas and some place up in Michigan that has had pipeline issues.

I think Buffet, while he might have a lot of money invested in the train system, I would hazard a guess that he would somehow benefit from a pipeline as well. When one has that much money they can pretty much invest in anything.

Why should we allow a pipeline from Canada to send the dirtiest form of oil to cross US soil enroute to refineries in the gulf to be shipped to China? There doesn't seem to be a payoff for us in the deal, does there? The idea that somehow this oil is going to benefit us and lower prices is wishful thinking at best and just plain lying at worst. The US is a net oil exporter and all the pipeline does is exponentially increase the possibility of a spill without any commensurate gain to the US economy. If Canada wants to ship the oil, they should figure out how to do it on their own.

    Steve

Maybe we could get the Detroit River swimmer to pull it over in a barge

Maybe he could figure out how to keep your pipeline in your country. Deliver it to say....Vancouver.

Maybe you could actually spend the time to read my original post, Dickhead. No mention of Keystone. No mention of a desire to contaminate you aquifers.
Simply a statement that pipelines might be a safer alternative to rail cars, based on the Quebec issue.

You see, this is why I hate Americans. Your school system turns out illiterates who can't read and your health care system is unable to treat serious mental health problems

I knew you hated us all along. I wondered how long it would take you to snap. By the way, since you're a Penn State grad, you are also a product of the American education system.

They told me at Penn I would have to unlearn everything I'd been taught at Guelph.

I guess that was to put everyone else on a level playing field

    Ha!
Well, you may hate Americans and me in particular for pushing your buttons, but we Americans love our Canadian cousins.

We are a polite nation, as a rule, so i must apologize for calling you a dickhead. Up here it is a term of endearment but I understand it may be offensive in other countries. Much the way fanny means backside to us in North America, but to the Brits and Aussies means something completely different (and frankly much better)

On a separate note, my favourite headline today was "It's Time For Weiner To Pull Out"

Because the pipe line going across the US for Canada oil that will be shipped to China and we are only a highway. Why not just get it over and dump the oil in the Mississippi River near Canada and pick it up at the Gulf below New Orleans. It is a given that tar sands are going to rip out in a short time any steel pipe line and cover lands and rivers with oil that will be lost into or suburbs and towns all the way across the US so just get it over and save the cost of a pipe line..
Or tell the Canadians to ship it across Canada and then take it to China. Leave us out of it. The few jobs this pipe line will create will never pay for the damages we are likely to see to our beautiful landscapes. I am not sure how many of you have seen a real spill, I have seen a few small ones a few tanker cars and it took years to clean up and even then the ground was no good for food.

Just a bad joke in a Horrific accident, and I feel so bad for that town and all the families that have had their life's damaged forever.

    Keith

Keith great idea as long as the river is running fine, during times of drought might make it tougher.
