    Greetings;

    I think I'm a little older than most of you on the forum. (I look younger though). I have never in my life time seen so many commercials that are absolutely disgusting and degrading both Repubs and Dems. It is HORRIFYING to see this garbage. And, you can't help see it - flick a channel and it's on that station. Is this the best our country can come up with?

    People talk about Social Security and what is said is mind boggling. No one in their right mind wants to cut S.S.

    The latest piece of garbage is this 97 year old lady who will go after Romney if he's elected and punch him right in the FU@#$%^ mouth. I guess this is Mr. Moore's style. Unbelievable! I think this great, great grandmother could have asked the question of why we give S.S. to drug addicts! And, why the politicians borrow it for whatever reason.

    Sometimes President Nixon is criticised on this forum and people wonder why President Ford pardoned Mr. Nixon. Mr. Nixon was a pretty darn good President. What he did at Watergate is like someone breaking into the Ford plant to steal the plans of the Edsel. Why, even Senator Ted Kennedy, before he passed away stated that Mr. Nixon had the best medical plan for the country. But Kennedy said being a Democrat I did not want to vote for what a Republican has done.

    I don't know how many of you guys actually met a President and had a few words with him. I met Harry Truman in the mid to late forties a truly courageous man. I met John Kennedy and voted for him because he just looked better than Mr. Nixon on TV. I met Jimmy Carter a peace loving man. I'm sure we could dig into their past and really scrutinize them if we wanted. However, they did not run campaigns like they do now.

    Sarah Palin - I love ya!!

    I am not listening to the radio, watching TV or answering the phone. I am listening to recorded music and using my computer. I have eliminated the ads from my life. I am much more peaceful. The election is like a jury trial. There is a lot riding on it, but one side is not going to be happy with the verdict. To the politicians it is a game. Look at Chris Christie and Barack (Hussein) Obama, Chris is going to get the job done for his state even if that means it looks like he is eating crow. He said some really mean things about Obama, but look how quickly that attitude changes when he needs something for real people. It's like Bush 41 and Clinton forming an alliance to help others. The citizens are then only ones taking this stuff personally. Rush is oblivious to everything except his paycheck and the politicians recognize they have to produce or get fired.

    I would love to hang out with Bush 43 & Palin, but I don't think they motivated enough to lead the nation. Shooting coyotes from helicopters like they do in Alaska seems a little extreme. I have two living on my course in an urban setting. My raccoons disappeared and I am okay with that.

    Captain we're lucky enough to be in a state now the winner is determined and neither side spends much money here on advertising unless trying to help a fellow D or R get elected. Can't imagine what TV must be like in Fla or Ohio or other swing states this last week of campainging.

    I still don't get all the money spent on ads, we are getting a ton of local ads, why spend that much money to get a job that really doesn't pay that much?

    I bet we get 4 to 5 phone calls a night and who knows how many during the day. California isn't even in play for the big race. Fortunately, these numbers flash up on the TV screen and we ignore them. If they are not picked up within two rings they generally hang up and move on to the next call. Captain, I think this total slander began after Watergate. I agree with you that Nixon was a pretty good president but personally paranoid. He didn't even need any information from Watergate to win in a landslide. I think that may have been the beginning of really dirty political ads. It has just gotten worse and more cruel and dishonest ever since. Like Scott, nearly 100% of the political mail goes in the trash without even being looked at. I hang on to a few of the local ads just long enough to see who the money behind the issue is from. I think Ted Kennedy and others should have been sued for millions during the Judge Bork Supreme Court fight. That was horribly personal as have been others like Justice Thomas. These disgusting ads are not good for America.

    David, I thought of the same thing. Why couldn't Forrest pull the shade down. He was one of my favorite actors until he blew the whistle on Nixon.

    It is ridiculous in Iowa. Every commercial is political. The phone rings off the hook. Both parties are guilty of running ads that are half truths or full blown lies.

    Thanks Citizens United. No matter who wins, I love for them to tackle the money in politics issue early.
