"Production is carried on for profit, not for use. There is no provision that all those able and willing to work will always be in a position to find employment; an "army of unemployed" almost always exists. The worker is constantly in fear of losing his job. Since unemployed and poorly paid workers do not provide a profitable market, the production of consumers' goods is restricted, and great hardship is the consequence."

Employment is ultimately predicated on economics and politics with politics leading the way.

And then Einstein changed his major to physics.

Experienced economist and not so experienced economist are walking down the road. They come across a pile of horse manure lying on the asphalt.

Experienced economist: "If you eat it I'll give you $20,000!"
Not so experienced economist runs his optimization problem and figures out he's better off eating it so he does and collects money.
Continuing along the same road they come across another pile of horse manure.
Not so experienced economist: "Now, if YOU eat this I'll give YOU $20,000."
After evaluating the proposal experienced economist eats it and collects the money.
They go on. The not so experienced economist starts thinking: "Listen, we both have the same amount of money we had before, but we both ate horse manure. I don't see us being better off."
The experienced economist replies "Well, that's true, but you overlooked the fact that we've been just involved in $40,000 of trade."

CNN reports; "Economists think Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney would be better for the economy than President Obama."

Since our country runs on a capitalist economy it would seem clear that if you want that to continue you would vote for Romney, If you want more social safety nets you vote for Obama.

I do not think many of us (independent voters) feel like we are better off than 4 years ago, and I doubt many of us completely blame president Obama for that. Both candidates are trying to convince us they will be better for the future. One difference is Obama has a record this time around.

Myself I am a Pro-Life voter, so the choice is easy since only Romney is Pro-Life. I think this is why Obama is vulnerable this time around, even though his social justice positions are attractive to many independents, his health-care bill has gone well beyond social justice to social engineering. Not to mention his recent foreign affairs failures.

Along with high unemployment, the highest rate of food stamp recipients in history, more upside down loans of all types.......mortgage as well as student........and the deficit is larger but all in all its been a great 4 years. As for bragging on the market first you must have money to invest to make any. If left out of the market how much it goes up is irrelevant................Mitt and Barack have made some in the past 4 years.........how much have YOU made?

I have no problem giving Obama credit for what has happened during his term, but sooner or latter someone has to pay for the run-up of debt we have under his watch. As it looks taxes are going up soon for all of us.

I know I will get blasted, but don't forget Bush's part of the debt running up too, they both deserve the credit (or blame). I agree with you, no matter how much spending gets cut, if we want out of this debt, taxes will need to be raised or deductions cut. How about phasing back in the Bush/Obama tax cuts, for those making a million, they expire at the end of this year, those making $500,000 they expire at the end of 2013, $250,000 will expire at the end of 2014, and the rest of us at the end of 2015. So congress will know they have to have a solution in time for the 2016 elections?

But Sean, your taxes won't go up with Mitt, he says so.......just hope he isn't ever teaching math to my kid.

If he gets elected he will have to pull a Regan, or a Bush 41, which means we will follow up Mitt's one term with another Clinton?

Sean, by the way, where did you find the time to join back into the political debates? Oh that's right, baseball season is over for you as well. You should go ahead and pick up that Royals hat when your in town for the chapter delegates meeting. (Oh great, now I'm blocked again, when will I learn?)

Funny. This is the only reason I can't vote for Romney
