I don't care if Rick thinks this cartoon is disgusting. It pales in comparison to the disgusting nature of the reality he helped to create.

How does one respond to statements like this, Clay? Or is being pointless your point?

Gov. Perry traveled around the country making speeches about how businesses in his state are not burdened with regulatory agencies. As a point of fact, that fertilizer plant had not been inspected for seven years. Where is the righteous indignation when it was right wing policies that created this horrible tragedy?

The plant was last inspected in 2011 resulting in a number of fines.

It was political. Perry ran ads in California saying that taxes and regulations were pro-business in Texas then went there to attract those businesses. The last full inspection of the fertilizer plant in West was in 1985. The Right has attempted to make the bombing in Boston political by blaming the FBI.

How is blaming the FBI political Scotty? Aren't they an "independent investigative body"? Political or not, its disgusting of you to post it, and even worst trying to defend it in my opinion...

The last full inspection was '85 you say... I wonder then, why didn't Mark White 83-87 and Ann Richards 91-95 both democrats didn't demand one? Ole "W" was the governor for a while... Prolly his fault!

Point taken Mr. Conrad....I don't come here on this part of the Forum much anymore and I can sure see why....I'm not of any political party, but I do know what the Liberal Mentality is...Very much a lack of Fundamental Understanding and practice. I Like Scott...Just wanted him to acknowledge that this was in bad taste. Off this thread for good :)

My question is so what if it is a Liberal Mentality? Can the same be said about the Conservative Mentality? You are saying there is a lack of Fundamental Understanding and practice, what exactly do you mean by this and why do you only apply it to a Liberal Mentality? If I understand what you are saying, this could be certainly a conservative mentality as well, the well connected get you to fight for what is best for them, look at what the Koch brothers are trying. Those that take up for them with the "right to work" laws and lowing income taxes and raising sales taxes in their place to me looks like a lack of fundamental understanding because explain who is going to be on the short end of that stick. But that is my opinion on just this one issue and I am always open for some education on it.

Just my opinion, but as we continue to use these labels, we are not going to get anything solved.

    Mel,

I'm no economist but I would think this would hit the rich the hardest, they spend more or at least have the ability so they will pay more in taxes in the long run, no? So if I'm low income and I want to pay less in taxes all I need to do is eliminate or cut back on discretionary spending. Who do you see getting the short end of that stick?

    Just curious!

Most low income earners spend most of their income because they must, in order to get by, therefore most of their income is taxed. Most wealthy dont spend most of their income, therefore most of their income is not taxed. Therefore the low income earners will pay a greater percentage of their incomes as taxes.

Thanks James, you explained it better then I could.

My main point of my whole post and I just used that as an explanation, but we have to stop bashing one side or the other. Those Liberal pinko whiners and those cold heartless republicans is not going to improve things. We have to learn to see where both sides are coming from and see if there cannot be some compromising.

Scott posted a opinion comic, that while it made me uncomfortable due to the poor people, hero's, first responders who lost their lives, it was making a point about Texas's recent politics and loosing up on regulations. I also learned from others that the Perry administration shouldn't be taking all the blame. It seems both sides in Texas and in the United States had let those people down.

The hate has got to stop to get things done. (although can I still hate that Wayne La Pierre guy? he makes me sick, but that is for another thread)

On the news this morning they said they have three posibilities: electrical short, an electric golf car battery caught fire or arson. The amount of Ammonium nitrate be stored provided for an explosion equivalent to 15,000 pounds of TNT.
