Headline, The Weiner won't pull out, The Filner won't resign and The Spitzer won't just go away! What is wrong with these guys that prevent them from just going away? This is not meant to be overly political because scum on both sides have partaken in scandals but why don't these people just go away? Is it ego, power, or fear they have no other job skill and can't find a job beyond being a politician?

They won't go away because they truly believe the city/state/country or whoever actually needs them and their ideas. Can you imagine what New York City would be like without Wiener's leadership? He's way too important not to get elected. The city will certainly fail if anyone else gets elected.

By the way, just saw an article yesterday that Filner's lawyer says it's not his fault because the city of san Diego never gave him any sensitivity training. Unbelievable.

Why shouldn't they try. Think back all the way to the nineties. Marion Barry as Mayor of DC busted and served time in a penitentary for doing crack. Fast forward a few years and he is elected to the city council and them again Mayor. What is wrong here? Where is their moral compass?
What's more amazing is the electorate. Are we SO dumb that we could even for a minute believe that these guys will change?
It's great fodder for the late night talk shows, and think about all the money they pump into the local economy during the election process.
I think Sandy should run for political office. ;)

I can't afford the major cut in pay!!! Besides, who knows what would pop out of the woodwork with my checkered past? The funny thing about Filner is that he cancelled the sex harassment training. He was way to busy to stoop to something so unnecessary! I can't believe his lawyer even floated that one to the press. The idiot is 70 years old. Doesn't he know common sense what is right or wrong by now? Sorry Bob Filner, your two weeks in sexual harassment summer camp isn't good enough! Just go away and get the hell out of our lives! He and Weiner are indeed keeping the radio talk shows and late night comedians loaded with good material.

Headline: people are still voting for these creeps and that bothers me, how could anyone still want them in public office. If our system is that corrupt; then we need new people all in public office. The fault lies with the voters and not the creeps. If they can get in office they can make millions and feed their desires for power and control. If they do get in it is our fault and no one others. Vote for someone else and the problem will go away.

Keith, I agree with a lot of what your saying, I think people that have better skill sets then current polticians don't get into politics because they make more money out of it, or can't afford to give up their real job to campaign or don't have the money to campaign. (and probably are just more ethical and moral people?)

Little Bobby Filner should be completing the first five days of summer sexual harassment camp later today. I am sure he is half way to becoming a new man! Of course in the meantime, the count of women coming forward with stories of his grossness is up to 14. I think the absolute topper is Filner going to some symposium about women raped while on active duty. What does classy Bobby do (while still a congressman)? You guessed it, he hit on two of the rape victims! I guess he felt his charm and warmth would make their lives better. It sounds like they didn't quite see it the same way. Stay tuned for more of little Bobby Filner and summer sexual harassment camp. I am sure the stories will only get better as he gets better

Our Mayor likes to have the odd drink. I have a feeling it wasn't Tim Hortons in the cup. In spite of his apparent transgressions he is seen as one of the guys

Great news everybody! Little Bobby Filner graduate early from sexual harassment summer camp. They claimed he went in earlier than we thought but I think he was such a great camp attendee that he received his merit badge plus cake and ice cream for outstanding performance. What an honor, graduating early! He should be very proud! Of course the idiot hasn't resigned yet in spite of losing all of his support. I am guessing he will have to toss in the towel within two weeks. The reason why he is staying or attempting to stay really ticks me off. He has a city council retirement at a lower rate from many years ago as a city council member. If he can gut out a year, that retirement will be increased to the rate he now receives for the mayor job, along with his congressional retirement! Just go away you slime bucket!

Couldn't they just buy him out? Not that I think he should get anything extra, but heck it get's rid of him. What would the extra cost be? I remember years ago when I worked for a NJ county, every once in awhile, they would buy out employees that were nearing retirement age or had their "time" in, just so they could hire new people at a lower hourly wage. Of course we would see the police chiefs in this county get big raises, we then knew they would be retiring in 3 years as that would raise their pension payments.

Mel, a recall has been started and he is being investigated by a Federal Grand Jury for two issues involving misuse of funds. He can be removed by the recall or if the grand jury indictment finds criminal wrong doing. I believe a state opportunity exists but it has to be started by the stat AG. I would bet a buy out is also being discussed since the city wants this to go away. They may not be on the hook for his legal representation but lawsuits have been filed which will be paid by the city. The city has already counter sued Filner so that he would have to pay the city back for any pay out they incur. The only groups not calling for his head are the various unions that pretty much got him elected. The saga goes on!

Another great reason to eat at Hooters! They have good taste when it comes to customers and will not allow slime buckets like little Bobby Filner to ruin the dining experience of it's patrons! Now besides the sports bar environment and the ok food, you can feel comfortable knowing you are eating with an acceptable dining crowd.

I don't know if I was eating at Hooters if I would even know if Mayor Filner was in the place, (well maybe I would because I would hear some old guy being inappropriate) Was I inappropriate with my response?

When will spell check get fixed? I spelled inapproprate wrong until I spellchecked it on my phone. This is just showing that besides being inappropriate, I am also a bad speller, it's making me look like a backwoods hillbilly, just because I'm from Missouri and like rodeos....I guess that is a topic for another thread?

Yea, but I grew up with all the Yankees that had moved down from NY and Detroit, plus I was an Air Force brat until 2nd grade.

Well, the latest person coming forward is an obese 67 year old great grandmother. This shows that Filner has no real pattern since he has now included all shapes ages work status, nationality etc. He is an equal opportunity sicko! I guess our city attorney has found wording in the council charter that may allow the city council to get rid of him for some pretty obvious city credit card abuse. We can only help since recalls are always challenging. You would think he would just resign after 16 women have accused him of pretty much the same behavior!

We might have a little Bobby Filner resignation within the next day or two. High level meetings have been going on behind closed doors. I would have to bet Filner is negotiating to get his retirement and the law suits dropped if he resigns. It seems a little like extortion to in a sense, pay him off to leave but the city certainly doesn't need the law suits and it might be a smaller price to pay if his accusers, Gloria Aldred and the city attorney. The unions still haven't come out against Filner!

    Greetings;

Sandy, don't be so hard on your MAYOR. He has the absolute right to grope the opposite sex anyway he pleases. After all, he is a politician. The union is standing up for him because the union has not come out against him. So, let him have his money and charge the taxpayer for it. What better way is there.

Captain, he will officially announce his resignation tomorrow. I wonder if we will ever find out how much this arrangement will cost us. Maybe it will be cheaper than all the lawsuits that would have impacted the city. Good bye little Bobby! We won't miss you.

    Sandy,
At some point the newspapers will file a freedom of information act request to get the facts about this, unless the city hides under the personnel and privacy issues. It will come out, and as others have said, whatever is paid to this scumbag, it might be cheaper than litigating this out and/or paying off the lawsuits (which still might come anyway).
So what is next? Who is the next politician waiting in the wings for a chance to line his/her pockets with San Diego cash?
