I am the only GCSAA member upset by the letter sent by "We Are Golf" to some politicians who have been critical of the number of rounds of golf played by President Obama?

Though lobbying is a necessary evil in these days and times and the GCSAA's alliance with other golf association in the We Are Golf group is commendable, I don't think that comments concerning legitimate criticisms of elected officials, however trivial they may be, should be originating from an organization of which we are members. Do they think our customers are so thin-skinned that the predicatable cyclical political discourse will keep folks away from the first tee?

Additionally, a familiar name is associated with the White House and Democratic politics has been retained by the We Are Golf folks. see HotAir.cm article here…

Doesn't the golf industry have enough problems as it is? My message to the We Are Golf folks and the GCSAA; "Stay out of this mess." This just stinks to me. And fire the Podesta clown.

It does not bother me We Are Golf sent the letter. I do not get [u">upset[/u"> at the criticism of the president playing but I wish they would just shut up about it. Golf is a great game and Golf is not the problem, policies and decisions are the problem.

On the bright side the more golf the president plays the less time he has to mess things up.

The letter will do as much good as sending a letter to the weather predictors to stop sensationalising the forecast. In reality only 20% of the population knows We Are Golf sent the letter and less than 5% know the criticism you highlighted.

We Are Golf looks like a clueless, whining bunch.

By now anyone with half a brain knows criticism of any President for things like golfing or chopping wood at the ranch is just disingenuous background noise. Every President takes their share of trivial potshots and both parties do it. If someone thinks their party is honest and ethical they themselves are either dishonest with themselves or completely naive.

It really points to how messed up our society is in that issues are never discussed respectfully. Instead each party plays to the lowest common denominator.

Our being involved seems like such a low priority that it is just a waste of time. I would think we could devote efforts to things that matter!

I got a kick out of reading the comments section of the HotAir article. They obviously don't realize how many non-Obama supporters are in the golf industry.

The biggest concern reading comments from the HotAir article and the article itself was the fact about (or lack of) golf courses being left out of the disaster bills. Not recognizing the many mom and pop/small business type golf courses (the type of businesses the republicans always talk about) that are out there and could use the help from natural disasters. Also the perception of golf itself, not realiizing how many middle income americans, seniors, etc. do play golf.

As far as the lobbyingg firm, (Podesta) I don't know what merits there are to fire his firm or what the criteria or issues they are given to work on. I'm not a lobbyingg fan but do know it is a neccesarry evil to educate lawmakers on issues they are not awhare of (like my congressman).
