2007 Toro 3500D shutting down Cancel The title field is required!

   I have a 3500 that keeps shutting down while mowing and sometimes while transporting. Most of time fires right back up and continues with no issues. other times it may shut down 5 or 6 times in just a few feet. This can happen in mow or transport. All safety systems check out just fine. Have checked all connections and cleaned them. have cleaned battery terminals and ground connections. it shuts off just like you had turned key off but fuel pump is still running. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.    The controller is a known issue for that situation. Verify all safety switches before making that call or if possible swap with another 3500

   We purchased a used Toro 5500 with a similar issue, turned out to be a clogged screen on the fuel pick up tube in the fuel tank.

   We had same issue with debris in the the tank. Taking the tank off sucks, the fuel line does a "U" around the frame. Had cedar tree berries somehow inside plugging up the intake hose

   Tank vent cap plugged or fuel pump or fuel shut off Solinoid going once they heat up ( on their way out )

   I had a sidewinder do the same thing this year. I changed the key out with a newer one and has worked fine since. The original key did have quite a bit of wear on it.
   
   Other items to check.
   The key switch itself. Are the contacts possibly worn inside shutting the engine off.
   Are there any fuel leaks on top of the engine where the injectors go in to the head? There are crush gaskets in there that can leak sometimes.
   Fuel line itself, how old is it and is it maybe getting pinched somehow. Its messy but you could pull the line before the fuel pump and blow compressed air through it back into the tank.
   How is your diesel running in other machines is there any bacteria growth in it?
   Any water in the machine tank?
   I had a fuel line degrade on the inside once that created a rubber like flap that would open and then close restricting fuel only sometimes.

    We have seen all 3 switches cause this problem (PTO, P-Brake & Seat) all switches tested good and when it failed the (SCM) standard-control module inputs and output would indicate everything was operating correctly. I had to bypass each switch 1 by 1 and operate the machine my self to find witch switch was failing. Make sure you operate it your self so no accidents happen while the switches are by passed and never leave any safety switch by passed once you find the problem.

    Thanks for the update. If the controller is a known problem has anyone taken one of these apart to see what circuit inside has failed and if there would be anyway to fix it or bypass it?
