Hello kind of at a road block right now with 2 of our 2500b John Deere units we have right now. So while driving from hole to hole the rear reel drops down looses hydraulic pressure and starts lowering to the ground. I thought for sure the Rings on the cylinder were going bad which was causing the hydraulic bleeding to lower the reel. So i just bought a new rear cylinder to fix the issue. Well it didn't fix the issue the reel still dropped. So ended up changing out the O-rings on the lift valve thinking maybe those wen't bad sense the price of a new o-ring kit is ten 250 cheaper than a whole new lift valve. Especially not knowing if it is for sure the lift valve that is bad. So i guess with that being said I am trying to ask you all to see if you guys have had this issue and if so did a new lift valve fix this issue or was it something else?

Thank you for your help in advance!

I have seen this issue with 2500 I have worked with before. It is always the rear reel to lower but sometimes it is actually the front lift cylinder that it leaking by. I would try replacing or rebuilding the front cylinder and see it that fixes the problem. When I would have this issue I usually capped off the lines running to the front cylinder and see if the rear unit would still drop, if it did then it was the rear cylinder that is bad if not its the front that is bad. Hope that helps.

Cap off each cylinder 1 by 1 and go from there. Jacobsen LF 3400 middle and rear 2 reels are all tied together and if one goes bad they'll all 3 drop. More than likely one of the front 2 causing the rare to drop.

Had a problem with our 2500 E unit (very similar to the B unit lift hyrdraulics) .mowers would drop down in about 15 mins . It was the check valve on the hydraulic valve body. Part number TCA17700. about $100.00. Not the easiest to get to but not hard to change.
All three mowers would drop down but the middle one always first.

I have 2015 models and one of them developed the rear drop issue . The valve block under seat was changed out to a different style under warranty at the time . The other unit is still ok .

Definitely the check valve under the seat. Accessed from the rear of the valve bank. Part number is TCA17700. Make sure you replace this when the engine is COLD. The exhaust comes out of the head right where you need to work.
