I am looking for someone with more experience with the Suzuki efi gas engine that many of these are equipped with
    problems: hunting for idle
    will not take fuel properly
    very little power
to start with we had electrical issues , I have since cleaned and replaced every ground wire
I have replaced all Vacuum hoses and plugs
I have checked all electrical connections under the seat
I ran the jumper test and the code came back 12 (every thing working properly)
I swapped out the cam position sensor , tps, fuel cut off valve, and pressure valve with our other machine that is working properly (no change to either machine)
I have replaced the fuel lines and filter
I tested the fuel pump pressure at 60 supposed to be 100 and after the pressure regulator at 40 which is correct
I even removed the exhaust in case our cat was getting restrictive

    any other ideas out there?

It's been many years since I had "experience" with one of these, but had a sprayer that was acting up as well. From what I remember, we replaced the computer and that fixed the problem. I want to say it wasn't a cheap fix either. It had something to do with the computer telling it to inject fuel that wasn't working properly.

Have you checked inside the distributor cap. I had found moisture in there and a large amount of buildup on the pickups and rotor, cleaned and replaced and problem gone. Worth looking at.

Andy, we have an identical unit we've been switching parts out with to try and isolate the problem .. Including the computer, with no luck .. yet.
Henry, I'm just the super posting this on behalf of my mechanic, but does an electronic fuel injected engine even have a distributor and rotor?

Sorry, you are correct, no distributor on EFI's. Spray some carb and choke cleaner around the intake and see if your engine dies or speeds up, may have a leaking intake gasket. Also do a leak down test, you could have a head gasket bad or valve problem. With everything you have listed and all the information provided you have done a good job in tracking the problem. In most cases something like this would be a restricted exhaust system. Very interested to see what the problem is when you find it.

    Regards,

Thanks Henry ... I will pass this info onto my mech. I also believe he has a done a good job in trying to chase this down, but sometimes we all "just need a little help from our friends" ... credit to the Fab Four. I'll keep you posted on our progress.

    Henry:
Just spoke with Greg .. my mech .. he did the leakdown test for head gasket & valves already with no problems found. Also checked intake gasket using acetylene gas at intake port with no issues either. Lotta hair pulling going on. I'd like to hook you two up for a live discussion. Would you be open to a phone call from Greg?

Certainly!! My cell is 269-567-0172 Hope I can help, as this one is certainly a mystery. By chance, have you replaced the plugs, and if so are you certain the gap is correct? I messed around with the gap one time, cant remember what motor it was, but it stumbled all over it's self. Worth double checking. Also run it in the dark and look to see if there is any ark running up and down the wires.

I'm not at work today myself, but will pass this on to Greg and have him contact you. We really appreciate your generosity in sharing your time & knowledge to help comrades

    Cheers

It's been quite a few years, but if I remember correctly, there is a very small electrical component attached to the engine somewhere (for a ground, I suppose) that is some sort of regulator. I am trying to recall this, but I think our engine would not idle well nor take fuel. It sounds similar to the issues you are having. If I were you, I would call Cushman / Textron / Suzuki; someone with a better memory than I must know about this component and it's location/function. Good luck, let us know how this turns out.

Richard: Fuel pressure regulator .. under fuel pump? ...

Richard: I have phoned the cushman hot-line several times and each time i call i get the same response , "its a vacuum leak" I have testing the vacuum and its identical on both our units

Henry: you have given me another idea, I think i will pull the coils, there are three one on each plug, and switch them with our other unit, it could be a weak,or intermittent coil. i did turn the engine over with the three plugs removed and had good blue spark but had no way to see if they still fired well under compression

I should also have mentioned that our unit only has 600 hours on it, and i have cleaned and replaced all grounds on the back of the engine

Was this problem ever resolved. Was it a coil?
    Thanks

The one I had in the past had a plug fall out of one of the bigger vacuum lines . Probably not your issue it was an obvious fix . Have you check or drained fuel and replaced it . Maybe they filled it with diesel or water got in fuel after washing it .
