We have a 11 year old Jacobson GKIV diesel that is now giving us problems with the middle reel going down all of the way once it has been warmed up. We do not experience the issue during the colder months and if we take it to a water hose and cool it down it will go up and down like normal but after 30 minutes it starts refusing to go down. We have swapped out the lift cylinder, filter and oil with no change. I am contemplating on trying an oil cooler but I would have to figure out how to run it since it would have high pressure running through it.

Has anyone seen issues with the reels not going down?

If so what was your fix for it?

    Randy,
Have you taken temps on your hydraulic system to verify it's an overheating issue? I'd check in a few places: reservoir, reel motors, as well as your pump and spool valve sections.
I don't have the schematics, but looking at the parts breakdown I would suspect a failing load control valve, maybe a seal going bad or a weak or broken spring in the cartridge.

We had similar issues with our Greensking. After trying several things it ended up being the hydraulic block under the seat. Both hoses from the rear cylinder go to that block. The color of the block on our model is a light green color. I think it is the delay for raising and lowering the rear cylinder.

    Hope this helps!!

Sounds like the sequence valve under the seat. Ours started sticking just before it started not holding the head up while transporting.
