I know we beat this topic up quite a few years ago. We ended up painting our bare concrete floors with the Rust-oleum garage floor paints, a two part epoxy.

After many good years, we are now finally starting to see some wear and we are looking at wanting to repaint the floors again.

Since it has been awhile I was wondering if anyone has seen some newer/better products? I'm hoping to avoid the 2 part epoxies again, just so we could do smaller sections of floor. Also any tips on preparing the surface? Hoping to avoid all that etching we had to do on the bare floors.

Anyone ever deal with Watco? http://www.watcofloors.com

Thanks! Looking forward to a great discussion.

Mel I don't know if anyone has found a magic bullet for shop floors yet. We used a one part product 2 winters ago and it held up well the first year and it seems to withstand chemical(oils) spills and impact for dropped tools/cutting units/etc but the tire traffic across it is already taking its toll. This would be a good question for Hector though.

Rust-Oleum 8000 System OverKrete HD – Type II. It will cost you about $150-200/gallon but will be the last time you ever paint the floor again. the Florida DEP requires this product to coat the secondary containment for fuel storage areas. We did our fuel containment areas and chemical room with it many moons ago...still looks new. it's thick.

We use Rexthane Armour Seal from Sherwin Williams the secret to any of these coatings is the floor prep. Here is a video from the field day at GIS that shows a couple snap shots of the floor. http://www.gcsaa.tv/live/?section=view&id=2939#view
