We are adding groomers to some of our reels. These are the newer Toro groomers and the instructions specifically state to add 5 oz of Mobil XHP 221 grease into the gear box cover and then close the gear box up. Does anyone have an idea if it's special or what the suitable alternatives might be?

I have found that on other equipment in the past. I usually can call Napa and they are able to look at the specs and find another one that we can use.

Unfortunately I'm in Okinawa and there's not a Napa around. My mechanic is checking locally but nobody is really coming up with an alternative.

Multipurpose Calcium Sulphonate Complex Grease, NLGI 1.5

You'll want to verify that whatever you get is compatible, unless you are completely cleaning the case and replacing.

The lithium complex is probably your easiest "off the shelf" type stuff you're going to find. Not necessarily the most waterproof, but better than no grease. The NLGI 1.5 may not be that easy to find either, but I'm guessing they spec it that light so it will move around some in there, so don't cheat there.

Thanks guys. I'm going to see if I can't order some online and send it over via DHL.

Call any NAPA store. Heck call one in another State. They should just tell you over the phone what it is.
