we just started using the new jac 322 mowers w/ the new cutting units. It appears my cutting heights need to be set much higher than my older toros, anyone have any insite on this.toro .135 seems to cut same as jac. at .155?
my foc is set at .16 and we mow around 3.3 to 3.6 mph. xx bedknives. older pencross greens.

I am not sure about the newer machines, but this was always the way it was in the past. You may also see some edge of cutting unit marks with the Jac. This will go away over time. Many supts I have known felt it was easier to control thatch and puffyness with the Jac, while the Toro was more forgiving to the mechanic.

    Robert,

We just switched from Flex's to Eclipse 2's. We went out with flex's at .140 and the eclipses we have set at .155-.16 range. FOC and speed is set same as you.

Thanks did want to correct myself we do mow at 2.4 to 3 mph not 3.4 to 4 thats when I think you get the hydroplain effect and never really let the rollers sink into canopy, just another strange theory after to many years of thinking.
