Smoke Damage - Fire in Maintenance Building Cancel The title field is required!

   Hello all,
   Needing some help and ideas.  This Thursday our maintenance facility experienced an arson incident.  Thankfully the fire was contained to 2 of our back storage bays, total loss in there.  Our main area was untouched other than heavy, heavy smoke and water damage.  Our main equipment fleet had most all hoods warp from the radiant heat, but all was cosmetic damage.  Needing ideas and thoughts for any of you that have gone through this mess before, especially as it relates to smoke damage on wire and electrical components, our computers and office areas are almost a total loss from the smoke but equipment I am unsure on.  Currently working with our John Deere and Toro reps for what they have seen, but anything from you all would be greatly appreciated.  2021 cant come soon enough!!    Mark, so sorry to hear you have to go thru this. We lost our clubhouse and cart barn 6 years ago to fires. Our buildings were total loss so there was nothing to salvage. One thing you may want to do is to have your equipment technician to work with your Toro and Deere reps to ensure that there was not further damage to the equipment. If it was hot enough to warp hoods on the equipment, it was hot enough to damage insulation on wires and on board computer, along with hoses and seals. I worked on a Steiner front deck mower that was in a fire and looked like minimal damage with some slightly melted plastic, but found the heat was enough to melt wires together. I even found some of the safety switches had warped enough they were not working and found some hydraulic hoses had become brittle from the heat. Unfortunately a lot of rubber and plastic parts on these machines. Good luck!
