Red Sox and Patriots Cancel The title field is required!

   Greetings;
   
   I thought there would be some accolades for the Red Sox. I guess I was wrong. The rest of you must feel as I do. I DO NOT LIKE THE RED SOX!!!! I was extremely dissapointed in their win of game 2 with the Tigers. It just seems they always seem to win when a base on balls or a wild pitch or a bloop hit or an error precedes their runs.
   
   I think Detroit used to many pitchers last night. Oh well, I guess that is why I am not a baseball manager. I will make a good Monday morning Quarterback.
   
   About the Patriots - you just knew Brady would score a touchdown in the last minute of play. He is good, no doubt about that.

   There is baseball still going on? Funny I feel that way about the Cardinals, and that's all we hear in this town. I guess that's because they have a double AA franchise here.
   
   I wasn't really rooting for Brady, but when they kept showing Ryan the defensive coach on the sidelines, Brady's heroics made me happy. I'm getting tierd of seeing coaches and managers, let's see a replay instead.

   Captain,
   
   As a life-long Tigers fan the loss on Sunday was a tough one to take. I always get nervous when we get into our bullpen as they always seem to make things interesting. I'm like you and try to avoid second guessing all this strategy but can't understand the constant need to keep changing pitchers in baseball these days. Let's see, the starter has struck out 13 and allowed one hit through seven. Only thrown 108 pitches but we need to go to the bullpen to start the 8th? I guess that's the way it goes. Hopefully things will go better these next few games.

   I've seen the opposite with the Royals, although they had one of the best bull pens. They left the starter out there and he got in trouble, still didn't go to the bull pen and he let the lead slip.

   Whatever happened to the Nolan Ryan's, Bob Gibson's and Don Drysdale's who would have marched the pitching coach back to the sidelines and told him to get off the field, this is my game? Funny, those guys all threw lots of pitches but never had arm problems. Maybe baseball should go back and look at some of the way things were done in earlier years. I know all pitchers didn't go injury free but it sure seems we have way many more arm problems than we did in the 50's and 60's.

   No Ron, those were just tough guys that felt like they owned their games. Guys who take steroids seem to be injured frequently. None of those horses ever went down, they just went our every 4 or 5 days and took responsibility for their jobs.

   So much "strategy" these days that they just over think everything. This guy is better against this guy....righty vs. lefty...the stats show......in the daytime....etc. Just let them play!! Best pitcher vs. best hitter. One winner...one loser. In the end it al balances out. Don't need a books of stats or a computer to figure everything out. Also would help shorten games.

    Sandy,Let's not forget Warren Spahn and Johnnie Sain for the Braves, Bill Lonberg the dentist for the Red sox, Louie Tiant for the Red Sox - oh well there must be a couple thousand pitchers out there that went the distance when it counted. I liked the so called nuts though like Bill Lee (Red Sox) and there was one from Detroit and then I think he went to the Red Sox. He had a farm somewhere in Massachusetts and I think he got run over by a tractor.

    Captain, You thinking, Mark "The Bird" Fidrych? Was a short-lived sensation but had all the antics out on the mound. Loved how Drysdale and those guys of that era used to try to hit guys...was just part of the game. Some hitters didn't even have to wear helmets back then. Go Tigers!!

    Gary, you are right - it was Mark "The Bird" Fidrych - he was a character. He did have a freak accident on his farm and he did succumb from his injuries.

    Captain, I would never forget Warren Spahn or even Lew Burdette of the Braves. I think one year the Braves won the World Series, those two were about the only two that pitched. Burdette won 3 and Spahn won 2. I am sure they played 7 and had a couple of other starters but you won't see two guys win 5 games in a series ever again. Spahn had the coolest pitching motion, a great pick off move and oh yes, 363 wins for his career, most of any lefty all time!
