Hello, We have been trying to kill an entire cool season green contaminated with paspalum with glyfosate 46% over the last 2 weeks. The paspalum keeps coming back after a few apps with urea included, no irrigation night of app.

I was thinking of trying Sencor and Tranxit in mix @ .33 lbs/ac and 2 oz per acre respectively.

We are trying not to tear out green and turf over it. We may have to resort to taking out 10 inches, Basimid for a week and then turf.

    Appreciate any ideas! Thanks Michael

Mike: Glyposhate is a salt so the paspalum will tolerant in rates that in my experience are very high. When you say cool season is it bent with poa? You are re grassing I assume? There are a couple of things that come to mind but may be outside the label.. Let me know and I may be able to suggest ....

Anything that kills bahiagrass. Metsulfuron-methyl works. Celsius, Tribute, MSMA. Repeat apps needed.

Basically what I try not to spray on my paspalum greens. Lol.

Thanks all, Andy, the closest we have to Monument is this : FLORASULAM 5,4% + TRITOSULFURON 71,4% [WG] P/P

As of the moment we are going to tear it out to 8 inches and hopefully I can convince all to hit with Basimid and wait the extra week. The roots are 6 inches deep in paspalum hit 3 times with glyfosate over 3 week period.

    Un saludo Michael

Have you considered letting natural selection take it's course and converting to Paspalum?

Robert, The paspalum was planted by a former greenkeeper as a test in several greens. It is really slow putting surface and goes dormant in the winter turning brown and dieing.

I hit the paspalum with a back pack with very strong dose of Primo Maxx a few times during summer and it grows more or less same speed as bent.

Our greens are really good with players saying all the time as the best in the area for high end clubs. We have a few world class clubs in area as well and many days we rival them too. The Costa del Sol is an area like Palm Springs, Scottsdale, and Myrtle Beach. Some years it has had top world ranking in rounds played.

The green we are redoing just gets so ugly in winter that the GM promised the members to replace it.

    Thanks all for help Michael

Do you have access to Pylex? I don't know if Paspalum is on the label specifically, but Pylex has been very effective on our Dallisgrass in Bent fairways...several applications at very low rates -- as long as the bent isn't drought stressed, little to no damage on Bent.

I'm only familiar with Paspalum in theory, however I find it a very interesting turf. I've been a Bent guy my entire career and prefer it to any Bermuda "cultural practices" green. Those Superintendents do an outstanding job! Sounds like your Primary course of action is the best IMO. Do you have a buffer turf zone "collar" between your putting green and surround? And Good luck Sir..:)

Pylex is actually an experimental method to remove Bermudagrass from Paspalum.

Robert, We are starting tomorrow with the Yanmar miniescavator to tear out the green. There is going to be a big collar of bentgrass ( several meters ) for a war zone against unwanted intrusion.

Thanks to all for ideas. No Pylex here in Spain or MSMA ( long gone, huge fines )

    Un saludo Michael
