I am changing my PGR program in hopes to get more consistent regulation. I am also going to be using the GDD tracker more. Currently on pencross greens I am spraying 6oz/a primo and 9 oz/a trimmit every 2 weeks. I am wanting to go weekly with this with rates of 3oz/primo and 4.5 oz trimmit. My question is how will that translate to the GDD tracker. I am assuming the spread sheet is set up for label rates?? Would my cumulative GDDs be 100 rather than 200? Any thoughts on this approach? Thanks

After playing around with the GDD, it looks like I just need to apply primo at my normal rate and it will burn out on average of 7 days regardless. My trimmit will last almost 2 weeks. I guess my plan will be to keep all rates the same and apply the 6oz/a weekly of primo and the 9 oz/a of trimmit bi weekly. Everything sound good ? Thanks

Why not try legacy or musketeer?

Just do the tank mix at 14-day. The Primo serves as week one regulation and the Trimmit will carry through weeks 2-3. I don't think you'll gain much additionally by going Primo weekly.

Allow to dry and water in at night. I always add a wetting agent to the mix to be rinsed in along with the Trimmit.

    Chase,

There is a Trimmit model on the 200 gdd chart from the University of Wisconsin.

I haven't played with it myself, just have been using Primo alone, following the chart and have seen the best results so far this year since I have started using it. I will say this year I bumped my rate to 6 oz. per acre for every application, I had always used 3 oz, for a 6 oz total for the month. We have been a little cooler this summer so far and I have been getting 7 to 8 days before reapplying, last season with the high heat, I would sometimes get 6 days or have to apply on the 6th day.

I had stayed away from the mix of the two, didn't think I had enough poa to worry about, cost, and the issue of Trimmit had to be watered in, but after my Primo application back on June 15th followed by about 2 hours later of 2 plus inches of rain....(they really missed that forecast). My Primo worked perfectly, clippings were down where they were suppose to be, so I think Dustin has something there. Over the winter I might play with the 200 gdd tool and try putting some numbers in for the Trimmit option.

I'm not sure if I might or not, just from my experience of going at 3 oz/acre before compared to the 6 oz rate now, the 200 gdd is still the main key. I would get regulation at the 3 oz rate, but did see some clipping yields go up the day or two before as I neared hitting the 200 gdd threshold, with the 6 oz rate, I'm not seeing any changes in clipping yields (and I've mowed the day before I spray so I know I am getting accurate data, well, as accurate for me, I probably should weigh it to be really accurate, but I'm dumping after the same number of greens). If it gets really hot, you might start seeing some rebounding at 6 days, I don't expect the 6 oz rate to hurt you, but looking at last years records I didn't spray 6 oz per acre until September. I have been spraying 6 oz this season with no problems at 7 to 8 day intervals.

I know and I understand the desire to spray on a set day every week, as I have sprayed on a Saturday, then the past 2 Sundays, and just about any day but Thursdays, luckily I haven't had an complaint or issue with players. Inserting the temps for the next 10 days, I'm actually going to make it to next Monday to spray if everything stays as it is. But for me the best results using just Primo at the 6 oz rate, following the 200 gdd is my guide.
