Good morning everyone, not so good for me though. I came into work and found my mims unit is dead. So I go the the trusty backup, the par plus control boxes, but I have a big issue with one of my boxes. It turns on and I can get it into multi manual and program the individual stations and it say active but no sprinkler heads on the box will come on. I tried shutting the whole box down and booting it back up, no luck. does the same thing. I can program the stations or just hit start for the 3 minute run time, the screen shows active and no heads pop up. I tried four different greens and fairways from this box with no luck.

Has anyone come across this issue? if so what ended up being the problem?

Bad OSM. Each OSM turns on 8 solenoids(stations). If you have multiple OSM's in a clock, one bad one....usually the top one, can affect the others. You can try a couple things to diagnose. If there are multiple OSM's in that clock, unplug them and try only one at a time. Unplug the wires on the side that go to the head/solenoid so nothing comes on and go through in multi-manual turning each station on and you should hear a clicking in the OSM when activating each station. If that clock has only one OSM, go get one from another clock and perform the same test.

Call me if you want. I also may have a source for a new MIM if you need it and any other components you may need.

What Keith said. To get more information google "rainbird controller troubleshooting". You will find a factory guide to fix whatever problems may arise.

What has led you to believe the MIM is dead? Often times it is one of the 4 groups that go bad, and unless all 4 are used you can swap out and re assign that new group in the central to get you by.

What is opinion when one of the four channels goes out? We usually switch to the next available channel and reprogram the computer program. Speaking to a rain bird rep this summer he stated that once one of the channels goes bad there is something wrong on the board and future failure is imminent. For that reason I sent ours in for replacement.

Before we subscribed to GSP, I used a MIM for years with a bad group #3. I just reassigned the computer to use #4 and was fine. But, this only works if you don't use all 4 groups already. As a side note, we have a ton of communication issues here because of bad wires/corrosion. I'm always skeptical its an indoor component unless I see something obvious. It very well could be in his case, but those MIM's are what $1500 or more now?

If your MIM has no power and seems dead. Remember that the incoming power cord is fused and the fuse is hidden in the metal box inside the MIM. However as the others have stated you have a problem with an OSM, that also needs to be addressed. Good Luck
