Anyone have any tricks on getting the smarty reflector off the top of the flagstick to be used again? They are seized on tight. I really do not want to buy 18 more of them. Thanks.

    Sam,

We've had good luck with soaking them in PB Blaster or a similar penetrating lubricant over night and then removing them by covering them with a towel and twisting with channel locks. When you put them back on use a little bit of Never-Seize on the male end of the flagstick and also on the inside of the Smarty, shouldn't have any problems after that.

    I hope this helps.

    Sam,

Make sure that when you purchase a Smarty reflector that you are getting the correct thread for you flag stick tips. We found that they are sold in two different thread types and that is why some of ours seize.

Turns out that Metallurgy 101 states Brass and Aluminum aren't compatible.....they bond. You would think that the company would have known this. I'm trying to get my money back for the reflectors since I wasn't able to reuse them after they bonded to the old sticks. At $35 each, that added up pretty quick.

I had to buy a new set for this season after our seized as well. With the new ones we put some lube on the and make sure they are not done up tight. Each day the hole cutter gives them a little turn to keep loose. I can't see why they don't make a plastic or nylon ferrule to stop this problem.

Same problems here. The first time we ordered them, on they went and on they stayed. Called the company up and they said to put an anti-seize on the male end before screwing on the reflector. Next order we placed I noticed in packaging that they had instructions with reflectors. No problems since.

Double Ditto, anti seize and check for type of screw fine or coarse. Our golf pro buys them and we put them on, of course communication between both sides then needs to be another issue??? Teamwork becomes the third strike!
