I do have not had a good plan for disposing of old tires. I wondered if anyone has a program for legally getting rid of tires. It's not like we go through hundreds of then in a year so I am not sure if there is a service that would be interested in the few that we end up with every six months.

    Thanks Mike

Here I can take them to the county land fill for $1/tire and drop them off. The put them in a large cargo container and send them to a recycler when container is filled.

I just called my local EPA and they made arrangements to pick them up free. I work on an Indian reservation, though, and I don't know if it will work for everyone.

Our tire vendor picks them up. I think it is $3/tire but we don't have to handle them at all.

Our auto parts supplier has picked up our tires for several years now. $ 2.00/tire regardless of size.

Our trash people told us if we cut the outside sidewall off where the tire does not hold water we could throw them in the dumpster. Our mechanic takes a cutting wheel and cuts the outside side wall off on both sides of the tire and then we throw in the trash.

We have had no issues with doing it this way.
