There have been times in my life where I felt compelled to make a list of things I really enjoy that do not cost anything. Those ended up being really happy times. What do you enjoy doing that does not cost anything?

    Cool that, Pete. Me too!

I learned the term "Skype Date" from my daughters, but I have only had one with my granddaughter. Her father's primary means of communication while deployed was Facebook and Skype. He prefers the phone right now, so I take what I can get.

Doesn't cost me a dime. Actually, I get paid for it.

I go to work and mow fairways. Nothing better than striping one up when overseeded. Same can be said about aerifying. Love them both.

I love golf course work, that is why I am in the business. As I get older though it becomes tougher. I am going to try a CamelBak this summer to see if it helps, but I nearly got myself in trouble a couple times last summer. My employer would feel the need to punish me if I experienced a heat-related illness.

I know is it Socialistic, but I love the library. Being able to read all sorts of newspapers and magazines without charge is my liberal Marxist pleasure I guess! There is also a municipal park adjacent to my golf course where I can go shoot baskets inside a gymnasium. I dream of being a USSR Russian Olympic Athlete while I am in there! ;)

    Greetings:

Cutting my daughter Gail's lawn riding her JD Tractor - Bringing a load of wood up to my daughter Linda in Vermont and watching her and the fellow I brought with me unload the truck and stack the wood. Did it five times this past winter. Round trip is 390 miles. I sleep on the way back. Enjoy going to the studio in California and watching my youngest daughter Jen (Comedian) perform on Chelsea Lately. Now that costs money but getting a few hugs from Chelsea is free!!!

P.S. if you are up this Thursday evening my daughter Jen will be on the round table on Chelsea Lately. That is the Entertainment Channel (E) at 11p.m. E.S.T.

Although it cost us money for the gas to get there, our family really enjoys walking the piers to see all the great lakes lighthouses. We are currently working on seeing all the ones along Lake Michigan, then we will move on to another Great Lake

Other than gas money, surfing would be my free pleasure. The only problem now is with two torn rotator cuffs, paddling would be nearly impossible. I used to love pick up basketball games at the gym but who has the time to do it anymore! Any of you runners out there can appreciate this. Taking off on a 10 to 13 mile run used to provide time to relax and be alone with my thoughts. Next thing you knew, you were finished and the run was effortless.

While I do not believe there is too many totally free things to do these days I have found in the last few years that reading a good book is relaxing but it took me 27 years to read one after school was over.

Even though it has cost me about $15,000 this last year I totally enjoyed remodeling my master bedroom and bathroom. I did everything myself from the designs and blue prints to installing the last of the moulding. took me all year and I cracked three ribs when I fell through the dining room ceiling but once it was completed it was great and I totally enjoy the 6' x 4.5' spa and steam shower I installed. when I had the glass installed the installer had told me it was about a $50,000 bathroom. one of the better ones he had seen.

Since work pays for my membership, I suppose getting on the forums is free and fun?

Playing golf at one of our city courses works too, well I do pay for it with extra chores at home.

Reading books over the summer we get from the library is something we do as well, (although I'm more of a winter reader)

One of our cheaper events, (although we don't do it as often as our boy has gotten older) is go to the zoo.

I want to spend a day traveling Route 66 but I guess that would cost money for gas and eats.

Mel last year me and the wifey traveled rout 66 from Texas to the Grand Canyon. I would like to travel it the opposite direction now.

To be honest there was not a lot of 66 left to drive on in that area but the places it was had a lot of interesting things to see. a few old diners and hotels as well as a nice restored car museum. It was still fun and worth the extra half day it cost us to slow down and enjoy the sites. I think it would of been more fun on a motorcycle though.

I raised four kids, 2 boys and 2 girls and coached every sport. I still enjoy watching kids play. I took my lawn chair to watch a high school girls soccer match. There was a foul at the far corner of the field and everyone was looking in that direction. I saw a fullback run over and kick the opposing team's forward right in the ankle. That would not have happened to my daughter. She would have known to keep looking around.

Sitting on the beach, catching a little league baseball game, long bike ride and playing board games are mine.

I enjoy the beach, but if I don't watch myself I tend to get too paranoid about what is going on. One day we were down there and I told my wife that it was too windy for umbrellas; the lifeguards should have them taken down. Right as I said that an umbrella took off, rolled once the the spike hit a guy right in the cheek cutting him open. Another time three kids were playing on a raft. Before their parents or the kids realized it they were going out in a rip current. At that point in my life I did not have the stamina to rescue them so I swam out to them, grabbed hold of the raft and informed them they needed to stay calm; we were going for a little ride. Yes, I needed the lifeguards to help me in too. That was embarrassing, but the kids stayed calm.

No kidding? That's awesome - my wife loves that show and your daughter is one of her favorite round table guests. My wife said she wasn't on for a long time and she missed her. I occasionally watch it with her and have seen her on there a few times and she's definitely funny. Do they have as much fun at work as it seems like they do?

Mathew, they have loads of fun at work. It is sort of like the Supt. over the pro, General Manager, Manager, it is like one big happy family.

Justin, Next time I see Chlsea I will give her a big hug for you!!
