Why is it if someone is hated, take Donald Trump for instance, the haters are non-stop posting something negative about him on Facebook...etc..

Same with Obama....it's like if you really despise him you are driven to be constantly looking to post something damning about him.

I don't know if it is the result of all the negativity in the modern US political scene, or all the negative stuff on Fox about the left or MSNBC about the right, but it seems like the need to post something negative about those we dislike has surpassed all other reasons to communicate....at least for some.

Common sense tells me that if a person doesn't care for another person they would ignore or avoid said person. But it seems to be quite the opposite. There are some aspects of Facebook I like, keeping up with faraway friends...college buddies...but it has reached the point, for me at least, where it is completely out of control and just plain frustrating. Have we turned into a nation of haters?

Unfollow or unfriend the chronic political pundit poster. To answer your question as succinctly as I can, justification.

    Don,
Tragically, it is easier to attack a person than it is to debate his beliefs. Rather than take the effort to argue the merits of the belief we have devolved to the point of ad hominem attacks. It used to be people could still be friends despite having differences of opinion. No longer. Do we blame politicians? Do we blame the chase of ratings by the media? Whatever is to blame, we have become an "un-civil" society. I was brought up to believe a person should be judged by how he/she acted toward other people, not by whether they believed the same as I did. It is a shame that people have such personal hatred toward people they do not know just because they disagree with their beliefs.

Trump is the king of ad hominem attacks. Just look at how he ridiculed the journalist with a disability.

    Stephen,
Trump is an idiot, at least that is how I see him so I've come to expect him to say and do idiot things.
What troubles me more is when our President giving a presser in a foreign land uses it to make fun of the GOP in a sophomoric way, like he did with the comments about the GOP being afraid of women and children. The refugee issue is one of overcoming ignorance and fear, and while the GOP is a little more vocal, the fact is there are plenty of Dems ignorant about the issue as well. It is not a left or right problem, it is an American problem. But the fact our Commander in Chief used his pulpit to scold the opposition instead of leading and educating is one reason we are where we are.
He had plenty of opposition on the Iranian deal as well but used the moment to compare those chanting "death to America" to the GOP congressional caucus.
That is not leadership, it is in fact quite Trump like, and very disappointing.
Like it or not, he is the President and he owes us a higher standard. Having said that, I'd take him over most every Republican running. I just wish he's set aside the labels and start calling it like it is, after all he is not running for anything anymore.
