The president is trying to get re-elected to salvage our country, so there is a valid reason for his input. Your use of the word "pathetic" is pathetic.

    Scott,

I'm trying to imagine past Presidents begging for campaign cash. Let's see....

How about Dubbya?: "Join me and Dick on a pig shoot. Just click on 25 bucks and you'll have a chance to win. Bring your own rifle."

Clinton: "If you donate money now you'll have a chance to join me and the intern of your choce for ....."

Lincoln: "To the person who donates the most money, I've got tickets to join me and the Mrs. at a show......" Sorry, poor taste on my part.

Carter: "How badly do you want to hammer a nail on a house that we're building in...?"

Sorry, Scott. I just can't see that happening. Even with Clinton. Obama is a sitting President. I stand by my words.

Nothing like the president needing his "hat-n-hand' or hold a cardboard "will work for food" sign. Yes, it really is pathetic.

"Pathetic" - coming from guys who think Fox News is "Fair and Balanced", listen to Rush Limbaugh and consider Sarah Palin a serious candidate - too funny!

My response is, wouldn't this be just like all the campaign dinners that all candidates have?

The sad thing is here is someone spending a ton of money to have dinner with the president, that's any president, when the president would be better served sitting down to have dinner with those that couldn't afford to pay to have dinner with the president and have to struggle to put dinner on the table, maybe all politicians should do that. Of course the food wouldn't be as good as what the lobbyist are feeding them.

Of course the amounts of money that go to all campaign are obscene, why not do something productive with that money, I always wonder do those that make political donations see a return on their investment?

Oh good, I watch The World Series of Poker, listen to fuzz metal, and would only act like Sarah was serious if she was nak...er present.

Yet another example of your assumptions gone haywire. I watch CNN substantially more than FOX, go out of my way to avoid Rush, and have no aspirations for Palin. Sorry to disappoint, but those dogs don't hunt.

I guess "begging" is in the eye of the beholder,....eh Pete? You act like a politician "soliciting" contributions is a new, weird phenomenon. Here, let me hold the straws a little closer for you....makes them easier to grasp. Damn, that was good kool-aid!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Mel.

But I'm not sure just what flavor Kool-Aid that is Keith is referring to. Obama put the video out himself. Every word I wrote about it was from my own original thoughts, so just what Kool-Aid would that be?

Funny how, coming from both sides, those who throw the "Kool-Aid Drinker" term out at others they don't agree with believe they aren't drinking their own side's Kool-Aid themselves.

    Crazy.

"my own original thoughts," that's funny.....oh, not because I don't believe you, because I do believe you. Since your the conductor of the assumption train, who's who is drinking the Kool-aid and what flavor?

    What's an assumption train?

If this is it, I've never worked there.

    http://www.americantowns.com/il/assumpt ... fic-trains

I understand there are $25,000 a plate dinners, like it or not. They all do it.

But I really could not think of one other past President who had done anything remotely close to Obama offering a dinner with him and his Vice-President, in return for campaign donations, at least the way he's doing it. Could be a brilliant move on his part. Whaddya' suppose that a guy who donates 5 bucks isn't going to win?

So, I guess that because I could not think of another Presiedent, who would stoop, in my opinion, to the level Obama has....I guess I'm drinking someon's Koll-Aid.

We'll leave it at that, Keith, unless you have another non-answer answer.

    Keith,

Looks like that straw you're holding onto is a little too long. Slow down, step back, keep your head steady, and pull it a little closer. You're trying to suck from the middle.

I think in the last quarter he raised $86 million comparied to a total of around $40 million for all the Republican candidates combined. I guess it must be all THOSE RICH DEMOCRATES sending in those donations for some future political favors. I though it was the left that harped so much on campaign spending...........ah that's right just when they are not in office. Rumor has it and it may be closer to reality than rumor that he will be the first candidate to raise $ 1 billion.................hmmmmmmmmmm they will be some gravy owed to a lot of folks to pay back a billion bucks.

Hey an idea to settle the debit crisis.........he could promise the Republicans he will chip in the leftover funds to pay off the debit..............sure it won't take a billion dollars to beat a bunch of nobodys next fall.

From: "Barack Obama" <info@barackobama.com>Add sender to ContactsTo: p_bowman@sbcglobal.netFriend --

I've set aside time for four supporters like you to join me for dinner.

Most campaigns fill their dinner guest lists primarily with Washington lobbyists and special interests.

We didn't get here doing that, and we're not going to start now. We're running a different kind of campaign. We don't take money from Washington lobbyists or special-interest PACs -- we never have, and we never will.

We rely on everyday Americans giving whatever they can afford -- and I want to spend time with a few of you.

So if you make a donation today, you'll be automatically entered for a chance to be one of them. Please donate $5 or more today:

    https://donate.barackobama.com/Dinner-with-Barack

We'll pay for your flight and the dinner -- all you need to bring is your story and your ideas about how we can continue to make this a better country for all Americans.

I always look forward to meeting supporters like you -- and this will be the kind of casual meal among friends that I don't get to have as often as I'd like anymore, so I hope you'll consider joining me.

But I'm not asking you to donate today just for a chance to meet me. I'm asking you to help us build this campaign if you believe in the kind of politics that gives people like you a seat at the table -- whether it's at the dinner table with me or the table where decisions are made about what kind of country we want to be.

It starts with a gift of whatever you can afford.

Please make a donation of $5 today, and we'll throw your name in the hat:

    https://donate.barackobama.com/Dinner-with-Barack

I've said before that I want people like you to shape this campaign from the very beginning -- this is a chance for four people to share their ideas directly with me.

    Hope to see you soon,

    Barack
