Greetings;
I do not want to get away from the IRS, so I decided to answer my friend Mel in another post about Indians and gambling.
I agree Mel that our Native Americans were not treated very well by the influx of the English back in the day. No doubt you are right about President Andrew Jackson forcing the Native Americans from their land.
Did you know that General Grant and General Custer were not to friendly toward each other. And, it was General Grant that Sent General Custer and his troops to (I forget) Montana, South or North Dakota - somewhere around there. Anyway, we know what happened to Custer. Grant was afraid that Custer would beat him out as President.
The Indians that run a casino are a sovereign nation. They have more power than individual owners of casinos. They are called Tribal Members for those who actually work in the casino. They take good care of their own.
Massachusetts High Court cleared the way for a vote on casinos in November. Casino developers deeply invested in MA will join forces along with labor unions to preserve the gambling industry's access to an estimated 1.7 billion dollar market. They want to educate the commonwealth about all the benefits of the gaming law. I say squiggly poop to that. I will vote against the casinos. MA thinks they will make a FORTUNE and they are looking for more ways to spend the money.
At Foxwoods Casino in CT - they have (5) five decent size gambling rooms including table games. Two big rooms are closed from Monday at 4 A.M. till Friday at 9A.M. The people are just not supporting gambling. They have no money and gasoline is getting expensive. The lay-offs are humongous and that is the same with the other casino in CT. I do hope the people will vote against casinos in MA.
