I have a John Deere 7700 fairway unit. I have mowed up so many broken pins from the mounting brackets on this poorly designed reel attachment. I have had enough! I mowed a pin today and bent another blade on the reel. Had to stop mowing to heat and bend blade back as best as i could then regrind. This is probably the 6th time had to do this. Does someone have any answers to this horrible reel mounting bracket. Or how often are you changing pins.

You can changed them out and use a grade 8 or harder bolt in them. Stainless bolts work good too. We've broken a number of them and I have had to slow the transport down a little and this has helped some. Seeking a harden pin or using a bolt should help also. Just don't use anything less than a grade 8 hardware others wise the problem will be the same if not worse.

    Regards,

5 or 7" reels? Which particular reel is breaking pins, all or outside front? If outside front and if your course is hilly/bumpy like mine, slow the machine down. In transport with the reels in the up transport position they flop like bunnys ears. I'm suspecting that's your culprit.
