    Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat introduced the Social Security program. He promised that participation in the program would be completely voluntary. It is no longer voluntary, thanks to the Democratic Party.

    He promised the participants would only have to pay 1 % of the first $1,400 of their annual incomes into the program. It is now at 7.65 % on the first $90,000. Thanks to the Democratic Party.

    The money the participants elected to put into the program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year. It is no longer tax deductible, thanks to the Democratic Party.

    This money was put into the independent "trust fund" and would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement program and no other program. Under President Johnson, the money was moved to the General Fund and was spent, thanks to the Democratic Party.

    The payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Under Clinton and Gore, up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed. Thanks to the Democratic Party., and we paid this money to the Federal Government to put away for us.

    Immigrants moved into this country and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments even though they never put a dime into it. Thank you Jimmy Carter. Thanks to the Democratic Party.

    And, the Democrats tell you the Republicans want to take our Social Security away.

    Scott,
    Say it ain't so. Someone got all fired up about a e-mail chain letter and posted it as fact only to find out it is mostly lies? How can that keep happening?

    As P.T Barnum said,"............"

    I guess if you can't figure out how to have a signature, then checking Snopes is way out of the question.

    I love it when some of these guys ask a turf specific/climate specific question and give no indication of who they are, where they are located and turf species. I thought we were smarter than that....right?

    GREETINGS LADIES & GENTLEMEN;

    We all now know there will be no increase in Social Security for us Old People. This is also regulated by the cost of gasoline going down. Anyone with a brain in their head realizes that elderly people don't drive a lot when they get older.

    Now, with that being said the Boston City Council's salary will go from $87,000 t0 $99,000 on January 1, 2016. When they retire, that means a pension of about $80,000 per year.It seems there is always money for the politicians.

    Wonder what is going on in your town or state???

    Think I'll watch my girl friend Hillary this evening!!!
