What is the best or preferred way that you rebuild your basket roller bearings on a toro triplex. I have tried the puller from R&R a few years back with no success. Currently I weld a bead into the middle of the old bearing and tap it out the other side with a old shaft.

Hopefully someone has a better way than I.

    Thanks for your help.

Ironically, I just upgraded my rollers as most all the bearings were shot. Out of the 6 bearings, I was able to "beat" 4 of them out by simply punching through the port opposite the large opening. So, I was able to rebuild 2 of the three rollers with new bearings (shaft and bushings) and ordered a new roller (assembly) for the two roller (ends) whose bearing (races) couldn't be successfully removed. Time is money. Good luck.

This video shows the procedure I use for removing the outer race of a bearing that has fallen apart. What is not shown in the video is the procedure to remove the intact bearing. To remove the intact bearing use puller RT145 and use basically the same procedure.

I didn't like the way the roller would roll the turf down ahead of the reel. We switched them out with these instead. No bearings and haven't worn one out yet.

Also replaced with the poly grooved rollers from said company. Used the puller you mentioned with good success for years. Lots of antiseeze and replace every one two years before they get totally shot.

    Andy,

How many hours on yours so far? Looks like a good way to go just want to make sure they will hold up.
