While I admire Gov. Christie for some of his stances and issues, and I know I don't agree with him on everything, (heck I don't agree with President Obama on somethings either, and you all know how much I like him), but I was a bit surprised at Gov. Christie on setting up the special election that's going to cost the state $12 million I guess I have heard more, but I think the primary costs are a wash, because they would have those even if he held the Senate race election on November with the Governor's race.

I know there are some politics involved with his selection of a replacement, and the timing of when to hold a special election, (heck I admire him for calling for a vote by the people, when he could have named someone and have them serve out Sen. Lautenberg's term, which was within his right) But why would he worry about having Cory Booker running for Senate on the same ballot on election day in November? I here about he is worried Mayor Booker would bring out more democratic voters, but I thought Gov. Christie had such a lead over his democratic opponent and has enough support from independents and democrats that he didn't need to worry. (Jon Stewart had a funny piece on last night about the issue)

Makes me think then if it is for political reasons and he's not concerned with the cost, maybe he isn't worthy of my vote should he run for president? Only republican I might have voted for unless Jon Huntsman were to run again.

Just wondering what you others think about it?

I think having a special election 3 weeks before the State general election at a cost of 12 million says every thing about what Christie is trying to do.

Doesn't this course of action exactly define every move Pres Obama has made while in office?

Andrew, I don't know what you mean about every move President Obama has made that was political or you talking about the concerned with cost comment? I don't know what you might consider political and compared to what Christie is doing. As for cost? What money spent would you complain about? I don't know of any tax payer money spent on elections like the Governor, of course that isn't the presidents job calling for elections, that is a governor's job. Of course I tend to look through rose colored glasses, so I need to have it pointed out to me.

    Thanks!

Sounds like a chicken's way out and not like a Christy way, more to this story for sure. 12 million is petty cash for a state but still a dumb thing to do.
