    Hello Gentlemen,

We are dealing with a Ventrac 4200vxd with a multitude of motor problems. The motor is a Briggs/Daihatsu dm950dt turbo diesel. The machine was very prone to running hot, and seems to have a number of internal issues. It appears we will be needing a crank, connecting rod, one piston and possibly a turbo charger. In researching the problems I've come across a number of horror stories on this motor. I'm looking for advice, othe possibly someone with a used motor available? I'm apprehensive about spending a ton of budget money on a poor motor. We are open to any advice from someone who may have experience working with this motor.

I am in the same boat, except my engine is gas. I have done some research and continuing to do before I spend the money and time tearing this engine down and rebuilding. I was told the short block part of the engines are the same between the gas and diesel, but different upper components. You may call Ventrac to get their advice, but I am going to contact Briggs dealers and Kubota dealers to see what they can come up with and price, and compare to rebuilding the engines.

We had 2 of the dihatsu engines. One is still running and the other died. No good replacement for it we were told from Ventrac. It is a liquid cooled gas and their only option for us at the time was an air cooled with less hp. With the hills we have to climb, we didn't feel it was worth the time and energy. There would also be a few modifications that would need to be made for it to work.
