I read where a loophole between the states and the feds has been discovered that would immediately allow 11 million (who knows really how many) to sign up for welfare. This is another example of why bills should go much slower, be required reading for every senator and congressman and not be 3000 pages of legalize. This is another case of good intentions without anyone stopping to determine the long term impact. Yes, we need to do something to improve the situation but is amnesty, no matter what it might be called the answer? I will predict right now, forget the morality issue, that the comprehensive immigration bill will turn out to be a total financial nightmare that proves unmanageable. Everyone is told one thing, much like Obamacare and the exact opposite turns out to be reality. Way too many of these bills are purely to entice votes, not to truly solve problems. How about we control the border completely first. Step two could be to correct our cumbersome legal immigration problems, step three would have a relationship to American unemployment before you create opportunities for future citizens, step 4 could easily be to rid ourselves of all the serious criminals and return them to the country of origin and then the remaining steps to deal with a long-term path to citizenship for those that actually want it. The reality is many just want to make enough money to someday return to Mexico. We also need to somehow do a better job of people actually assimilating rather than Balkanizing the U.S. We certainly welcome all those that really wish to be Americans and will Pledge their Allegiance to our country.
