We have tons of rattlesnakes including 4 different kinds. We either encourage them back into the brush or bushes or capture them in a large plastic container and move them to a location safer for the golfer and the snake. Like Scott said, if we killed them, we would have an epidemic of rodents. Mel, you don't need to run from snakes, they won't chase you! We recently had an article in the paper reporting rattlesnake bites this year and the experts concern that the toxin is becoming more dangerous. They don't know if this is an evolution thing or something the snake does naturally due to availability of food. Doesn't matter if it is a copperhead, rattlesnake, black mamba or cobra, just don't get bit! The average snake bite is on the hand of a drunk or near drunk male. It must be kind of like golf. You take your clubs out of your car and put your brain where the clubs were. With snakes it must be some weird desire to touch or play with them.
