I have a Toro 3100, 2005. I have noticed recently that the air cleaner is soaked with oil and oil sitting on the air cleaner housing. When I change the oil I don't fill the engine to the full line. Usually to about 50%. The mower is used to cut tees, so there is plenty of up and down side slopes.

    Any suggestions????

Check the engine seals...we've found out it's usually the crank seals...or dipstick seal.

    Good Luck.

What brand engine is it? Briggs & Stratton are know to suck oil into the air filter if it is over filled with oil. I try to keep mine a little above the lower mark but whenever a staff worker adds too much oil to it it gets pulled right into the air filter housing.

I had my mechanic call toro and they told me that the case gasket is cracked causing a lack of suction in the crankcase. He replaced the gasket and the crankshaft seal and the problem went away.

On the pump side of the engine... you'll have to pull the engine to pull the cover...
