I've always moved my sprayer to a heated bay in the winter. Is this really necessary? Is there a way to winterize it so it doesn't need to take up a heated bay?

You can run RV antifreeze through the tank and lines to protect from freezing.

I remove the drain plug on the pump and put antiseize on the threads. I installed quick disconnect couplings on all the lines so they drain. Ive seen a sprayer left out in the cold barn with the drain plug removed and the nozzles. Had no problems when I started it up in the spring.

Starting in late fall, we add RV antifreeze toall the new sprayers we build. While our factory is heated, the trucking lines we use have un-insulated trailers and the machines are subject to any weather along the delivery route. Make sure you get the product completely thru the system, including booms and hose reels.

We run RV antifreeze through it, make sure it gets through the nozzles, we then remove all pressure gauges (ours have 2 front and back with hose reel). Blow the pressure gauge line with air, and remove the computer.

We hit -17F a year or so ago, the RV antifreeze turns to a gel (scared the crap out of us, but it is normal) but it didn't freeze or expand so no damage.

We have multiple sprayers so gauges and computer get labeled to be installed on same machine. Also make sure you record all computer settings so you have a good starting point to re-calibrate sprayer upon startup.
