My mechanic is looking for a toro bednife tool to get the bedknives off a toro fairway mower. He is hoping for a 1/2" drive socket. Anyone know if they even make that? I cannot seem to find a tool anywhere. Thanks.

Please clarify? Are you needing to remove the screws from the bedbar?

R&R has them. 3/8 drive. Around $20. Make them for jake and toro.

Isn't it just a twelve point socket . I had to use a box end on one side of the ones we had because of the brush kits . That's if you mean a tool to take out the pin bolts that hold the bedbar in the frame ?

It is the same thing R and R sells but was looking for a 1/2" drive instead of 3/8. Gonna look into the drag link just need to make sure it's not too thick. Thanks.

I use a 3/8 snap-on with a 3/8 Milwaukee Fuel impact on all our knives and it takes every thing off without an issue. I'm guessing you're looking at 1/2" so you have more power with an impact gun for removal? If so try the Milwaukee 3/8 Fuel impact its very powerful. I have use my 1/2" impact in 3 years for knives. If you really feel you need the 1/2" drive bit Snap-on sells them. Like I said I use their 3/8 and the bits are replaceable so I keep a couple of bits on hand then when they break them I just change them out and hand back to snap-on and he replaces them. Money well spent.

    Regards,

i use 3/8 dewalt 20 volt lithium impact and it will tighten more than needed 1/2 in just seems excessive to me and will cause more problem when removeing that 125 lb of tourqe on those small screws they are a flat head screw very easy to strip just dont see the need .... that is if you talking about the bed knife screws . and r@r has both toro and jake tools

I also use a Snap-on tool they just need to be rounded on the ends of the spade to fit tight.
Snap-on part # GF22. They work great. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year To all. Ron.

Thanks for the tip on the impact guns will try. I guess I am old school, in the two shops I worked at we just use a hammer and a punch to remove the screws from the bed knife. Then we use the bit from R&R to install only and it is 3/8 drive.

As an aside, I have actually started using a local fastener supply store and have found a great value on bedknife screws. $5 for a box of 500 which is probably what they should cost, vs 41 cents a piece through Jacobsen. These particular ones are #3 Philips head but work just fine with an impact tool. For future has anyone found a good snap on or hardened tool for Jacobsen removal tool, slightly smaller. The R&R ones are only good for 8-10 bedknives I have found before bending/breaking.

The Snap-on tool can be modified to fit the Jac screws with a die grinder. Don't over heat
them and they will last a long time.

we have been using this for years for the initial breaking loose of the screws followed by the bit placed on this to speed the process
