just had another one rust out and break. anyone know if you can buy the axle housing? the last time I had a great equipment tech and we rebuilt it using steel pipe. I do not think I can duplicate that feat without him though.

I do not believe you can per our dealer. We welded in steel pipe which was labor intensive. Then the first time out after doing that in a case of horrible luck a wheel motor bearing went out. Luckily we found a used one on a machine with a junk engine for $200 and hope to have it back in the field shortly.

These new machines have a lighter footprint, are easy to operate but gang mowers would literally last forever.

I agree 100% on the gang mowers. I also welded steel pipe to our old one. it was quite extensive but my Equipment tech then was really good at building and designing things but I had to do all of the welding type mods with him. If he was still here I would do it again in a heat beat but without him to design it I'm going to try to fabricate a patch that attaches like the brake plate does (wheel motor bolts) and goes underneath it and welds back to the good pipe section.
